As of right now, it looks like a 3-way race for Game of the Year 2015…and we haven't even hit July yet.

Even though the fall is packed with hugely anticipated games, the first half of 2015 has made a strong statement.

The recently released Batman: Arkham Knight is hauling down plenty of praise and glowing reviews, and rightfully so. Many are saying it is indeed the best title yet this year. But there are many others who are still siding with one of the previous greats: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Bloodborne . Both have been named the best of a new generation by various critics and sources, and they'll be in the mix at the end of the year.

Then again, look what's coming: Fallout 4 , Assassin's Creed Syndicate , Star Wars: Battlefront , Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , Call of Duty: Black Ops III , Halo 5: Guardians , and more are stacking up for the holiday push. When it finally comes time to hand out the awards, it'll be very interesting to see which titles earn the most acclaim. I guess it all depends on how each will be remembered as time goes on…

Related Game(s): Batman: Arkham Knight , The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , Bloodborne

Assassins's Creed Syndicate wil be great but I don't think it can compete with MGS, Bloodborne, The witcher 3 or Batman (I wish I was into superhero games).

I will give away my Kojima signed copy of MGS4 if Call of Duty wins game of the year. As far as Halo goes…that won't be winning either.

It's a four way match up between Bloodborne, MGS5, Batman and The Witcher 3.

My heart right now is with Bloodborne for my personal goty thus far. No game in quite some time enthralled me body and soul like it had. I've played a lot of games in my time of all kinds, it's rare when a game like this comes along. I can't deny recognizing it for that.

Batman is splendid but I'm not quite far enough to really know how strong I feel about it yet. It's a great Batman game at the least.

Witcher 3 is the game that on paper would seem to be the most GotY'ish to me. Emotionally though it's been an uneven ride. Sometimes it's great. Sometimes it's really great. and sometimes it's blah.

I expect MGS5 though to take the cake. Yes, it's MGS Open-world. But I think Kojima is going to deliver the whole package deal and come out on top.

I loved Bloodborne and while I have not finished it, it did not hold me like Dark Souls 2. I have enjoyed The Witcher 3 more (not by a lot) but Bloodborne is so unique and different that if it was between Bloodborne and The Witcher then I would give it to Bloodborne but since MGS5 is releasing this year and knowing Kojima's tendencies to be a perfectionist I think MGSS5 will be the GoTY.

Are you excited about Dark Souls 3?

I've only started Demon's Souls of the Souls series and determined it wasn't for me. I prefered the faster paced play, and the visually rich and imaginative take on a Goth setting in Bloodborne. I think under different circumstances and timing the Souls series could've worked for me last gen.

Dark Souls 3 may be a re-entry point for me because it would seem this new gen of hardware has really worked wonders for FS's environments. I'll be watching it closely.

Dark Souls 2?…that is my least favorite out of the whole souls line up. You chose the wrong title to hold above Bloodborne. My opinion of course.

Yeah, unless Bethesda messes up more than usual in the QA department, I'd put my money on Fallout 4.

I can't see any of them titles being in the same ball park as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Even with the story mode alone you're also getting Metal Gear Online 3 with it too. So two top tier games in one package, it just can't be beaten.

Fallout 4 is kind of a shoe-in for my personal GOTY considering it's the only one I plan on buying LOL. I've currently got about 725 hours into Skyrim – 200 to platinum it on PS3 and then 500+ on PC. These sorts of games are pure heaven for me.

I have to say its Batman right now easily as it is the best game of the generation and the best game that I have played since TLoU,which is saying a lot.It is more than just a great Batman game.

Bloodborne just is not enjoyable and lacks the excitement and game play as something like Batman has.I have not touched BB since April. Not a bad game, but I personally can not get into it.

The Witcher 3 is a really good game, but suffers from too many bugs and glitches just like Elder Scrolls, so I don't see how the game can be GOTY.If people bash a game for being short than technical problems should be bashed even more.

MGS5 to me is not even worth the hype as I personally do not like certain changes made from playing Ground Zeroes and an open world does not make a game great and if it did than Just Cause 3 would be better than MGS5 easily.Plus MGS5 is also on last gen hardware so I doubt it will come close to Batman in any department, including story since Batman is fresher and not a prequel like MGS5.

If Batman doe snot get it,than Bloodborne deserves it due to its technical quality and freshness.Fallout 4 will no doubt have tons of technical problems too as did FO3 and NV,both of which I found to be extremely overrated.Elder Scrolls is the better franchise IMO.

I am sorry. I don't think there's a franchise that surpasses MGS in story telling including Batman. Sure, MGS's story is convoluted but if it excels in anything it's definitely story telling and the fact it's a prequel has nothing to do with it.

Enjoying Arkham Knight, and Witcher 3 is great, but of the games I've played so far this year, it's Bloodborne at the top, and I'm not sure it's particularly close. That combat is just about the best I've ever experienced in any 3D game, of any genre. The art style, the enemies, the steep difficulty paired with endorphin-releasing payoff… it just works so well.

Batman is fun, though I suspect I'm reaching a saturation point not just with Gotham City and it's denizens, but this particular style of action-heavy open world sandbox gameplay. Really, really good story in the first few hours though, so I'm certainly sticking with it.
