Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst Features Combat, But No Guns

Many were worried about how DICE might present the new Mirror's Edge vision.

Is it going full-on open-world? Will there be more of an emphasis on combat? Would it feel more like a third-person shooter?

Apparently, the answers to these questions are yes, yes, and no. As revealed during E3, Mirror's Edge: Catalyst will indeed be open-world (no levels, no loading times) and the gameplay demo showed off a bigger emphasis on first-person combat. However, not long after, senior producer Sara Jansson confirmed to Polygon that guns will not play any role at all:

"In Mirror's Edge Catalyst, you won't be using any guns at all. We've completely removed that aspect of the game. You can't even pick them up."

It's probably a good idea. The focus should indeed remain on free-running, even if they do have to put in more combat. I'm hoping they still retain the puzzle-solving adventure-style aspect as well but for now, we should be satisfied with the slick new look.

Good, this was my only concern, that they would put an emphasis on guns.

This game is now most likely a must buy for me. The trailer was very slick.

I'm the same. I got the trophy in the original for not using a firearm and I'm happy to see it implemented.
