Slightly Mad is just about ready to drop a hugely ambitious racing sim on us, and they're whetting our appetites with the launch trailer.

Featuring the Deadmau5 song, "My Pet "Coelacanth," this trailer is beautiful. It's just one of those videos you watch and after it's done, you go- "Damn…now I think I have to at least try it."

Project CARS has been in development for over four years and suffered a number of delays. It was originally expected to launch late last year but it got pushed into May. Now, it's set to arrive on May 7 and racing fanatics everywhere have lofty expectations. Will this be the Gran Turismo game for the new generation that we've been missing? Will it set the bar for the genre?

You're excited to find out, aren't you?

The more and more I look at this game, the more I see Gran Turismo.

I want to love this game, but I am going to wait and see after a review or two pop up and I receive some feedback from some trusted players.

The track list is impressive (110 courses) but the car list is woeful (65) and no chevy or Dodge.

This worries me that half the cars are DLC you will have to buy to drive.

It looks gorgeous. Damn, now I have to find a way to budget in a Thrustmaster so I can play this. Why are they so expensive with a clutch and shifter?

Really looks like they have completely ditched the snow conditions which makes me sad but I am still super pumped for this.

This game is its own identity. Racing sim, average graphics, small amount of cars but insane track count. On the contrary, Driveclub is also its own, arcade racing, great visuals, small amount of cars and tracks.

GT is still in a league of its own. Racing sim, great visuals, lots of cars/tracks, and lots of GT perks not found in any other racing game.

So no, this game is no where near genre defying. Everything you see here has mostly been done and seen.
