Latest Destiny Update Lowers Strike Difficulty, Fixes Some Bugs

Destiny just keeps improving.

As developer Bungie says in their latest Weekly Update , the game is "never finished" and they outline new changes and improvements.

They aim to stamp out "toxic" players and as such, they're tweaking Destiny 's endgame with the new 1.1.2 patch. Basically, they want to make the game's least-played Raid a little easier for players. Said senior designer Gavin Irby:

"The Raids are living content for us. We play every week and experience them in the same ways as any other player. In 1.1.2, we have an opportunity to make some targeted fixes. We prioritized a list of items based on community feedback and tried to hit the ones that have been the most important to players. In particular, we wanted to improve the Atheon and Crota boss encounters. They’re challenging enough without the game getting in your way."

On the technical and stability side, activities engineer Sean Chan said the update would remove a number of irritating bugs. It's not an easy process but in order to ensure the reliability of the experience, it has to be done. Said Chan:

"Fixing bugs for the Raid is most challenging in two ways: figuring out went wrong and devising a safe way to fix it that won’t break the rest of the game. The Raids have some of the most edge-casey content in the game, so the bugs can get really tricky. For example, we had a bug where players weren't doing damage to Minotaurs with the Relic shield. Turns out that the complicated hit test we use to detect a melee hit just missed the combatant because of the long-legged shape of its body. Some of these bugs were truly baffling, but we dug deep and went to great lengths to improve things."

They keep talking about a follow-up title but for now, we imagine the fans are quite satisfied with Destiny . And even if they're not, Bungie just keeps working.

Let me just start off by saying that I love Destiny. I have two characters maxed out and the third is only missing one piece of Raid gear (bad luck).

With that said, Destiny needs a serious influx of content. Don't get me wrong, I have put in hundreds of hours in the game and beaten the Raids, Nightfall's, and strikes dozens of times but I am afraid, I am reaching my end with the current amount of things to do.

House of Wolves can't get here soon enough.

OT – I am very glad that Bungie is taking a stand against the AFKers as they get rather annoying.

I'm with Max. I've spent a lot of time in destiny (some with Max but not nearly as much as him) and even though Bungie continues to work, content is too few and far between. When new content releases it's great but then it ends and fans continue to do the same things over and over just to get that last piece of gear (right max)? It's farming at its worst because you have a developer who has a plan for you leaving the exploration part of farming out of the gameplay.

I seen an interesting article recently and if Destiny 2 is in the works it's probably a little ways out. The article had a leaked image of time lines for releases. House of Wolves obviously next, then a Destiny 1.5 of sorts that includes a lot of content compared to the last dlc and the next, then after that 2 more dlc packs next year.

Sounds like a lot but going back to my too few and far between comment: This wouldn't be an issue if the dlc had more content. There's nothing in the dlc aside from the raids you couldn't complete in a matter of hours.

That timeline seems about right. I'm in the same boat too, only I only managed to level up one character and I'm still missing a piece of Crota gear. I just have too many other games to get done to play the same raids over and over. With that said, I still need that damn chest piece. Hit me up before House of Wolves Bigrailer, I got a couple more people who can help us out.

Okay will do. We've been playing Borderlands The handsome collection because we can play with 4 players any time. But if you want to get down on a raid just let me know when and i'll grab a few buddies too.

Went back to destiny last week after not playing it in a long time, needed the break. Just haven't got the patience to spend hours getting legendary/exotic gear. Also, don't have anyone to do raids with!
PSN is SnowMadClaude if anyone wants to add me.

Broady: yeah I took a break back in November and started it up about 5 weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed that time. However, the same thing happened this time that made me quit last time. I was farming and farming and farming in a pre determined path and getting nothing for it. The game is super linear in that regard and the drop rates are out of control ridiculous. But when you got stuff to do its okay to have to grind it out. Otherwise it's a painful experience and it's forced me to stop playing twice now. I'll add you for raids. When the next dlc hits I'll be back at it. For now it's Borderlands!

I have 3 characters at level 32. 2 ghally's and 3 of almost every gun from Crota. I have all but 3 exotic weapons in the game and have around 75% of those guns for each of the 3 classes.

I suck at PVP. But at 33 light I had every armor and weapon you could get from the crucible and am working on them 36 light. Well I was …..

This game is freaking awesome. But I am a hardcore player and have a tremendous amount of hours in the game. So I unless they put out 10 times the content they can never keep up with me. I have played so much I have tired of the game and have moved on to play other games.

But make no mistake, if Bungie came out with the new DLC tomorrow I would be back. However, I am not going to buy any more DLC until they put it all out next summer or so. That way i will have tons of content and will not over pay for it. I feel I overpayed for these first 2 expansions.
