Survey: Most Japanese Gamers Are Satisfied With FFXV Demo

Well, looks like Japanese gamers are at least moderately interested in the game.

After the Final Fantasy XV demo released with Final Fantasy Type-0 , everyone has had a chance to digest the 2-3 hour sample. Square Enix also sent out a survey, asking fans about their experience with the demo.

Kotaku has posted the results of the Japanese survey and the majority of those surveyed are happy: 51.9 percent of participants said they were "satisfied" with the demo, while 19.7 percent said they were "very satisfied." That's just shy of 72 percent claiming they basically enjoyed the play sample. It seems many liked the battle system, and most weren't put off by the camping/save mechanic.

They also listed their favorite characters (Noctis was #1, unsurprisingly), and were able to say what they thought of the summon, and the Behemoth battle. If you've played the demo in question, do you agree with these results?

Wish I could disagree. Its certainly good, but its definitely not what Nomura was going for 8 years ago.

I actually liked it quite a lot… It feels different but good different, like going from VII to VIII to IX back in the good old days (felt 60 while typing that, lol).

I'm still waiting to learn/see more about the story and the characters… mechanics are fine, but a FF is nothing without a great story and at least good character development.

To the people who have played, what's your impression of the battle system in terms of depth? Are they offering us more depth than say FF13?

Well It's an action RPG, so if you're looking for something like the materia or junction system, or the sphere grid, well you won't find it here.

Noctis can equip different weapons, each with advantages and disadvantages (ex: power and speed) and abilities of their own (ex: drain life or "mp"), and you can assign it to different attacks which are triggered depending on the direction you press when you strike. There's also a parry/counterattack system with the square button. Oh and of course, summons.

So all in all, It's different and not as deep as one of the turn based RPGs, but It feels Final Fantasy to me… and I've played them all but FFII, multiple times.

Sorry If I couldn't explain it all that well… English is not my first language.

I played it for about two hours, I do like the battle system. As you must think what to use on different beasts.

It is not hard to be more deep than Auto Battle button of FFXIII. But this was from the beginning known to be more flashy action in the approach of battle.

@darxed

That it feels like Final Fantasy is by far the most important thing I believe- glad to hear it.
