You can't really blame him, can you?

Long-time Mortal Kombat producer Shaun Himmerick is stepping away from his Twitter page in the wake of violent and upsetting threats against his family. There were even extremely inappropriate sexual threats.

He has changed his Twitter handle to "come on people" and offered an explanation, and he says it has nothing to do with anything related to the upcoming Mortal Kombat X . You can see the assembly of Tweets here ; it's clear that the abuse simply went too far in his eyes, and he wants no part of it.

The guy doesn't want to put up with threats against his wife and daughters. Nobody in their right mind is going to blame him.

I'm surprised Harada hasn't shut his Twitter down as well, not because of personal threats but because of the amount of fan filth he gets smeared on his Twitter page day in, day out by fans who think they have better ideas for his game then he does, when they clearly don't.

Sometimes I wonder if gaming wouldn't be better WITHOUT the internet.

Well the Internet would certainly be better without the social media junk…

Too bad these type of threats are never taken seriously, somehow because it's on the internet it's "ok"… wonder how these idiots would feel if the cops showed up on their doorstep after posting something like this.

Or life in general for that matter. Sometimes I wish Kurt Russell would flip the switch and turn off the world.

I agree crabba. I want to believe most of them are stupid teenagers and not disturbed adults, but even so threats should be considered threats, and people need to learn there's consequences to their actions.

Things like this make me embarrassed to call myself a gamer.

Man this is getting out of hand i say but then everyones response it "its the internet" that is becoming a lame duck excuse in my view people need to learn to be more civilized on the nets but apprently thats just too hard and then the freedom of speech will come too, nah i'm just asking you to tone it down a bit if you don't mind.

but with that in mind i do feel for the poor guys i don't think i could hand it either

happy gaming
