Resident Evil 7 Coming This Fall?

It's about time for a major Resident Evil announcement, isn't it?

Maybe Capcom is waiting to unleash such news on us at E3, because there's a chance a brand new entry could be ready for the holiday season.

According to a new SuperDataResearch report (via Twinfinite ), Resident Evil 7 might be just around the corner. In the final paragraph of the report, the article talks about what to expect in 2015:

"We anticipate this month’s downturn to level off during the coming few months, following a regular seasonal pattern but expect to see an upswing as the next editions of several major franchises like Halo and Resident Evil come out in the 2015 fall season."

It's vague and the report could be flat-out wrong, but when listed alongside Halo , you'd hope the researchers in question had the correct information. That's a pretty stupid error to make, wouldn't you say? Or, they could be referring to some sort of spin-off, which wouldn't go over all that well, I assume…

I don't think RE will ever come back to where I want to play it, it's a long way back to horrortown.

Gawd Capcom, please just stop. Sell it to Sony or Nintendo already.

I never even played 6. Except for Leons parts it looked terrible. The Revelations games are good though. Hopefully it's more about Revelations 2.

It's about time they just dropped this charred turd of a franchise altogether. It's an absolute far cry from its golden days and with every release it's just becoming more and more of a complete mess. Either reboot RE2 or the Outbreak games to salvage some pride or just bury it once and for all to save the series from further insult. But expect more shoddy outings to be churned out, not because the campaign will be good but because people enjoy the Mercenaries and Raid modes. This is what this series is all about now, and it's laughable.

Revelations 2 failed once again at it's flimsy attempt at survival horror by always making sure the player has enough ammo for every occasion. The use of weak vulnerable secondary character switching was cute but fell on it's face considering they were mainly optional and that you spend most of the time using the main characters anyway to get through the core of the game.

The Evil Within is an exception or atleast is on the right track with it's heavy reliance on stealth over melee action (which is ineffective against enemies anyway), difficulty spike (it's even difficult on easy mode!), feeling of vulnerability and perfectly limited ammo placement which makes conserving ammo are key tactic in surviving. The Assignment DLC completely nailed it altogether by not giving you any firearms at all, which imo is survival horror games should be with heavy emphasis on the survival part.

I was first introduced to the Resident Evil series on the Gamecube with the RE remake, despite the control I loved the game the item management, puzzles, and exploration really worked well with the horror elements.
RE4 started out pretty solid but turned into nothing more than a third person shooter by the end. RE5 was simply are really long action game, and RE6…well lets not talk about it.
RE7 will more than likely just copy the Evil within which in my opinion is more annoying than scary. A good horror game/film/story is one that keeps you and suspense and holds back until the moment is right, not one that just shows you a ridiculous amount of gore constantly to the point that 5 minutes into the game nothing is going to surprise you because it's already maxed out it gore quota before suspense even began to build(I'm talking about you Evil Within)
In my opinion that last great horror series was Dead Space, but sadly after 2 fantastic iterations it fell on it's face with the third entry, succumbing to the push for more action, more gore, more customization, and more online/coop.
While I'd love to see a RE sequel on par with the original, I find it extremely unlikely with Capcom's ignorant belief that you can turn survival horror mainstream.

it will probably be Resident Evil Revelations 2 ultimate HD remastered even crappier edition… lol.. Resident Evil has gone downhill since RE4 and it shows no signs of ever being as good as it used to be.. it's as when Capcom's best RE game in 10 years is a barely enhanced 2002 gamecube title… it's as if Capcom was saying "this game was the pinnacle of how good we could make an RE game.. and besides RE4 there will never be another good RE game..ever"
