Well, 40 seconds is pretty long, no matter what game or generation.
It seems some gameplay footage of the PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne , recently leaked on YouTube and spotted by PushSquare , shows a player reloading the game after dying.
The load by TOMBOY25 takes about 40 seconds, which is actually about one-quarter of the uploaded video. There could be a day-one patch in the works that helps to speed things up but we can't be sure of that. If you sit and watch a clock count to 40 secs, you have to admit that it seems like an awfully long time. And considering how many times you're bound to die in this game…
Actually, none of that bothers me too much. What bothers me more is how the player died. It seems like he had no chance at all; some massive wild pig comes out of nowhere and mows him down. You never even see him until you're dead. You can call that part of the challenge if you like, but I have a different perspective.
Related Game(s): Bloodborne
They fixed load times a bit in DS2, but it had some pretty long load times on the PS3.
The pig thing doesn't bother me at all. The reason he didn't see it was because he was locked on to the enemies on the ground, you should always scan the area first, if he was looking forward I'm sure he would have seen the pig come around the corner and then charge him.
Im not too concerned about the load time though, it could also just be the area he is in, or his PS4 might be crapping out etc. Lots of reason for why it could be long.
Yeah, but would he have been able to avoid the pig even if he had seen him? Seems like a very narrow alley there and the pig was flying. Besides, you're supposed to lock on to enemies…it's like a double-standard; saying you should lock on to have the advantage, but also saying you have to keep looking around for other potential problems.
I think it depends where the pig came from, I'll only be able to know for sure when I get to that part during my playthrough 🙂
I think it just falls in the games philosophy in that it wants you to always be aware, you can lock on but check your surroundings first etc.
I won't deny there are a couple of places in the souls games where if you are running a blind playthrough you are going to die in certain areas unless you have some ungodly luck or reaction time.
I can see how some would consider these cheap deaths, but being 100% honest I can count them on one hand, that is the places where the game outright wants you to die your first encounter.
I gotta admit while watching the video without prior knowledge of reading the article the whole gigantic pig bouldering through the scene smacking him was completely unexpected. It was almost surreal to me. i can't say I've been killed by a pig in a game since …. since ….
Do duke nukem's pig cops count ?

^ or Tomba
load times are supposed to be cut shorter and shorter with "all the latest and greatest technology" and utilizing the hdd to install more still isnt being used to its max? i mean i have over 300gb left and i dont care if i have to install over 50gb for this game just to make it run fast.
if i wanted to wait over 40sec for a game to load, id continue playing my commodore64.
Eh, 40 seconds is a long time. But I'm sure that will get worked out. Sucks though that it's just another example of patching games to get them to run good. It would get to me after awhile.
The way he dies though isn't an issue. It's just a bad camera angle. He was focused on the enemies on the ground. Games like this you have to play in 360 degrees. Not to mention I heard the pig coming. Let your senses do the work. It may take a death or two to find the pattern but that's hardly an issue.
Nah for me this it's a nitpick issue isn't a big problem like the Order being a extremely short game.
We get it Ben, you don't vibe with the "difficulty" of these games!;)
Yea,GTA5 load times were bad…hope this isn't similiar
It just doesn't seem like legit difficulty to me. At least, not always. A lot of deaths in these games, like this one in the video, just feel cheap.
A lot of what people call "difficulty" in the Souls series is their own lack of caution, having been spoiled by excessive hand-holding in modern games. If Bloodborne is anything like Dark Souls, barreling heedlessly ahead like this player was is a very bad idea.
Screw the loading time!
Run and die in order to learn and plan is old hat. That gameplay is an anachronism. Today it's all about real time chances to survive, not hsving that sound in Super Mario 2 when you die ringing in your head: "Doot da doot da doo" Followed by a cowed, tamed gamer ready to acquiesce to various miniscule circumstances.
Is it no possible he or she may have only been playing a demo of the game. The load page kinda of reminded me of that from past demos I have played over the years. Unfortunately I am probably wrong.
The one thing that bothers me is the continuous "leaks" of gameplay for games that have not been officially approved for release, unauthorized I would guess by the developer. Is it me or is the gaming community integrity non-existant or more probable in this case, beta testers, really could careless on infringing on their probable "say and show nothing" agreements they sign with said developers.
Other than that…. game looks pretty good to my eyes. 🙂
Traveling from areas supposedly doesn't have to preload anymore, or so I swore that's what I read. Then again, if we're going to die every 5-15 minutes….
That's pretty much the worst thing I could imagine for this game.
It's not actually that bad a factor but loading times shouldn't be an issue if the PS4 wants to prove itself.
At least it lets people take a breather – which would be way nicer if they used a great score accompaniment. I'm the type who likes to get back in the fray ASAP before the moment is lost 😀
In the game's defense, the player was reckless in that area, and having picked up blood echoes, he had died their previously. He likely knew death was down there, he just had the unfortunate luck to get hit twice in rapid succession for the death…
The crawling guys were tearing him up.
I will say though, I'm not liking that pig's purple breath. He gives me Marlboro feels…
I have been watching many streams and videos of Bloodborne gameplay that has been leaked with all the early copies out on the market.
Load time across all players seems to average 30-40 seconds with the Hunter's Dream being between 20-30 seconds to load.
Hopefully the loading times will be fixed in the launch day patch.
dam the respawn wait is painful to watch and having to do that over and over that could get a bit frustating could end up doing some else on the console or ur phone heavens forbit while u wait aye
You guys can't have it both ways….The Order 1886 had no load screens and got blasted for being too short and now your saying 40 seconds is too long. How long does Destiny take just to load the freaking tower? If I remember correct every Demons / Dark Souls game had load screens but there was information and tips for the game on them, and personally I don't trust anyone on Youtube to not manipulate a video. As far as the Pig he died to it before as you can see him collect wtf they are calling souls on the ground in the tunnel after coming down the ladder, so obviously the pigs aggro point is probably dead center in the tunnel.
Why does it seem every time the PS4 is moving forward with a new game someone puts up a video to hurt sales? Am I really the only one seeing a pattern and how is it that the PS4 has three times the memory bandwidth than xboxdone and top tier PCs and we're still having loading issues? that is unless we're playing The Order 1886?
I picked up the game last Friday on a Brazilian store. I don't know how they got the game, but I'm playing already for more than 15 hours and I can say that Bloodborne is incredible. If you change the brightness it's possible to see the pig on this point. Load time are taking so long too.
Online play will be available only in March 24.

One hint for new players: you will begin the game with bare hands. Don't try to kill the werewolf, go to the Hunter House and search for a skull that will give you the gun. Go to the clinic, back again to the Hunter House and other skull will give you a weapon. If you try to kill the enemies without doing this, you'll have to kill a lot of enemies only with your hands. Many people may abandon the game on the beginning because some points are very frustrating.
40 second load time is a little on the long side. 30 seconds should be the maximum benchmark.
Normally, I don't mind 40 seconds on a new level/world etc… but when you die as often as you do in these games, 40 seconds can seem like an eternity when you're going through it for the 100th time.
