While it's certainly true that this delay may cause a holiday problem for Sony, the bottom line is simple:

If Naughty Dog needed more time to make this an absolutely memorable title, then so be it.

I know people are calling the delay of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End a catastrophe but of course, that's short-sighted. It's not even a problem. It's only a problem from a PS4 hardware sales perspective (what exclusives does the system have scheduled for the holiday rush?) but aside from that, what's the issue? If you tell me you don't have enough to play, you're either lying or you've got way too much free time.

Know what the real catastrophe would be? If Naughty Dog rushed deadlines to push Uncharted 4 out the door before it was ready. Not only would it sully the franchise's good name but it's really not what the PS4 needs. After a series of somewhat lackluster exclusive offerings, the new Uncharted needs to be borderline flawless, as far as many are concerned. And if it isn't, if they release it too soon and it's lacking that patented Naughty Dog polish, we'll never hear the end of it.

Let them make the game amazing. It always surprises me when an amazing game essentially nullifies previous negative headlines. In other words, if this title turns out to be the AAA game we all expect it to be, you won't hear anymore whining about its delay. So really, let's get some perspective here.

I agree. We don't need another rushed potential.

We need something that is fully, 100% realized. As Naughty Dog have always been able to deliver.

In the meantime… I guess it's time to complete all the backlogs for me! (yey)

It's tough to not be disappointed by the delay. This year seems a bit empty without it. Alot of great things are coming but this was on that reserved space with Xenoblade, Zelda, Arkham, MGS5 and The Force Awakens.

And justifying the delay with an expectation of a flawless experience could lead to disappointment. I put undue pressure on UC3 to one up UC2 and I came away feeling it didn't. Now with this game, I'm expecting a Metal Gear Solid 4 level send off for the hero, Nathan Drake. Already in my head are images swirling of Drake in a climactic final battle (no guns, just a sword) atop an ancient pirate ship as it breaks apart around him, giving every ounce of himself to make it back to Elena and his son. It needs to be amazing and perfect down to the last moment. I do have faith that ND can deliver that, but if it doesn't, I'll be a sad dude.

People complained about The last of Us being delayed. Look at it now. Major hit. Remastered Edition. Would any of that happened if it wasn't delayed?

A delay is far better than releasing a glitch filled title which requires multiple patch updates to fix it.

Did any of us here really got utterly disappointed by this delay? At least for me, it wasn't much. In fact, I'd be more surprised if it wasn't delayed.

Any info on the “The Master Thief Collection” that is being worked on? Last I heard it was made up of 3 PS3 games and a Vita entry. Wonder what those are?

After AC:Unity, I have no qualms with titles being delayed, so long as they don't become Versus XIII and Last Guardian development times.

For me it's quite simple.

No release date = No excitement
The closer the release date = the more excited I get.

That's why I am very excited about Bloodborne. No use getting excited about something that has no release date.

Stinks cuz PS4 ends up looking empty over the holidays but hey it hasn't hurt sales for some reason.

It's important ND gets this series finale right after the mass exodus of talent from their studios.

Well the majority of games that people purchase are usually multiplats and it has become clear that multiplats perform better on PS4. Now how much of a difference 1080p vs 900p makes is debatable, but if you're going to spend 400 bucks on 2 systems that are almost identical you're going to go for the one that offers slightly better performance. Basically what I'm saying is that the PS4's ability to handle multiplats better than xbox may actually be providing a massive boost to sales.

…or maybe people just prefer blue.

Heres the issue with all the delays.. when a game gets delayed (especially multiple times) it raises your standards… i"e when it finally does hit it better be one of the best games I ever played in awhile.. otherwise it makes me wonder… wtf were you spending all that extra time doing? I hate seeing a game that gets delayed a lot because "it wasnt weer we want it to be" and thus when it finally does come out and should be "where they anted it to be" Its getting reviews of 7 average…. wheeras 7 isnt HORRIBLE it makes me think "if youve delayed this game this much and t the end all it was capable of is a 7 then wtf was it at first? unplayable?… and as 7 is what you consider where you wanted it to be? thats a pretty low bar you set for your game"

Watch Dogs is great example, all that hype, all those delays and in the end I got a game that looks gorgeous but I cant even finish before of how boring it is (im barely on the mission where you have to go to the shop and get your first gun, after yo first go that that girls house and talk to here and she gets that mysterious phone call and Ive had the game since launch…

Or the games that get delayed and in the end still suffer from basic problems that no game should have (and most dont), or the ones that get complained about during betas and yet in final release those issues in the beta still arent fixed.

Other games that got delayed a lot only to turn out subpar.. Driveclub and The Crew.. I mean if youre gonna delay a game at least make the end result excellent (or never give us a release date until youre SURE the game is within months of hitting, that way you never really delayed it to begin with) otherwise dont delay it at all and just release what you have if even after delays it still isnt gonna be superb… youd look better releasing a subpar game on time then delaying it constantly only for it to still be subpar (though I know uncharted wont have that problem)

yeah i agree ben people moaning about the delay would have way to much time on their hands to justify complaining about a delay i don't mind much cos the way i see it im going to have too many games to catch up on anyways like i said in a previous post i still need to get fry cry, dragon age, shadow of modor, the crew, LBP 3 and maybe destiny if i can be bothered

happy gaming
