Looks like the Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero war may be rekindled for a new generation.
We've been hearing rumors that Harmonix will reboot Rock Band and now, it looks like Activision is planning a Guitar Hero resurgence as well.
According to Kotaku UK citing a couple inside sources, a "more realistic" Guitar Hero entry is in the works for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Supposedly, this project will be revealed at E3 in June and it'll ditch the "cartoonish" style of the series for something more authentic-looking. It seems Activision is also making the new guitar peripherals for the game but we have no further details at this time.
Whatever this new Guitar Hero is, it's scheduled to launch before the end of the year. Yeah, Activision probably wants another huge cash cow for the holiday season. But the question remains: Can you re-energize a fad that bit the dust over four years ago? We'll have to wait and see.
I would prefer rockband over guitar hero. Activision and its developers have no clue how to make a good rhythm game. Harmonic are the best at that.
Well if they can make it good, and make it interesting again I don't mind. GH3 is still by far the best guitar-music game IMO. It all went downhill from there…
Also definitely wouldn't mind a proper keyboard-option this time in addition to guitar & drums..
Im not sure i could go back to either of these franchises after Rocksmith.
thats all well ancd good not meaning to be pesimistic but do we really need another one???
happy gaming
