Unfortunately, we haven't seen that killer AAA PlayStation 4 exclusive just yet.
We thought we might get one right out of the gate with Killzone: Shadow Fall but that didn't pan out. And while a lot of people really liked inFamous: Second Son (including me), that didn't really qualify, either.
Now, after The Order: 1886 slipped up in its quest to be the first 9+ critical darling, I guess it all falls on Bloodborne 's shoulders to deliver. Granted, I think many critics did gamers a grave disservice by screwing up their reviews for Ready at Dawn's effort (check our newly posted review for more detail), but The Order still isn't a legit Game of the Year contender. That's what we expect from a AAA PlayStation exclusive, do we not?
Well, now it's From Software's turn. And this time, we might finally get the game that wows critics and gamers alike. It does seem as if reviewers are automatically saying harder games are inherently better than easier ones (a hardcore elitist streak that needs to die), and so long as it isn't too linear and doesn't put too heavy of an emphasis on story, most critics should love Bloodborne . Yeah, there's some sour grapes here – as true as they are – but I do believe the game will be excellent.
Problem is, it's not exactly a "mainstream" title. So maybe we still need Uncharted 4: A Thief's End to hit huge later in the year…
