While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt should end up being a legit Game of the Year contender, it appears it's not all roses.

Well, based on one source's feedback and well before the game releases, of course.

According to French publication Jeux Video (and as translated by Z-Goichi ), it seems the combat in CD Projekt Red's hugely anticipated RPG isn't perfect. It's described as being "more impressive than Assassin's Creed but not as fluid as Batman Arkham ." They say the dodge is a little "soft" and the counter attack is too difficult to apply after dodging.

They also say there were some "crashes" which are oddly attributed to the graphics (perhaps a translation screw-up here). Either way, they think it's a good idea that the developers opted to delay the game; it was originally slated for February and now, it seems we know why it was pushed to May 19.

We'd rather wait than be disappointed immediately, that's for sure.

Precisely why the game isn't out yet. It's still being worked on.

And for the record if the games combat is better than AC and not quite that of Batman, I'd say that's something to look forward to.

It isn't supposed to be as action feeling as Batmans combat system. In the Witcher 2 you had to be careful about when to attack, roll, parry etc. I love the combat in the Batman games but it is button mash friendly, the Witcher 2 was not.

Also yeah I think that is why they delayed the game so long.

Good move on a delay… Some devs should take note on this and delay then release an unfinished game… I'm looking at you Ubisoft 👀

exactly what ruined the witcher 2.
take the amazing world and characters of the witcher 2, and mix it with the amazing combat and awesome weapon variety of kingdoms, and you have the perfect adventure game!

What exactly ruined the Witcher 2? I beat it 2 times and never encountered any crashing, and if you are complaining about the combat it was designed to be the way it was, in that you had to be tactical in when you dodged, attacked and parried.

it was really boring and basic, just like all adventure games always are.
skyrim another perfect example, such a beautiful world, a pretty decent story and interesting characters, but my god was the combat uninspired!
i just can't understand why adventure games all have to have the same boring crappy combat.
why can't we have a adventure game with a complex fast paced fun combat system like castlevania lords of shadow, or DMC, or even ninja gaiden.
exactly why lords of the fallen is so popular, its the only adventure game out there that actually has a half baked combat system!
