Take-Two Interactive plans to hold an investor call after the market closes on May 13, so they can talk about the previous fourth quarter and fiscal year.

The interesting part is that previous investor calls often yielded big game-related news, including upcoming projects and the status of current projects. This time around, Take-Two may reveal the fate of XCOM , which has recently disappeared from view , along with news concerning Grand Theft Auto V .

Specifically, there are rumors floating around that they will reveal next-gen ports for the hotly anticipated blockbuster. If this happens, GTAV will join the ever-growing list of "cross-generation" titles; Watch Dogs , Destiny and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag are already notable games on that list. The new GTA is slated to launch on September 17 in North America, which may be a little ahead of Sony's PlayStation 4, which currently holds a vague "Holiday 2013" release window.

If GTAV does come to the PS4, well…that'll be cool .

I wouldn't purchase any game on PS3 that has a PS4 counterpart.

I was going to say unless they're ports but I'm afraid that even ports would work better on the PS4 than the PS3.

Intriguing because of the release date. If it's going to have a PS4 version, it would have to be by launch or near. If not, I don't see how people would wait for months or years, if they could just enjoy the already available PS3 version. I don't think many people would buy the PS4 version if they've already played the PS3 version to death, especially if the only difference is graphics.

If true, my decision on which version to get solely depends on GT6's fate. If GT6 releases on PS3, I'm holding out on the PS4, which would make me a late adopter, which in turn would make me get this game for the PS3.

Graphics would not be the only difference. Performance, Networking, Sharing and possibly other unannounced features could come into play as well.
Also, people will need to feed their PS4. PS3 already has an immense library. It will take some time for the PS4 to catch up.

Is that because you do not wish to have a lesser version of an awesome game? If the port is an upgrade then I see no issue here. I myself will only purchase games for PS3 that are NOT cross generation.

Oh man I hope that is true. I don't want to buy more games for the PS3 at that point in time. It's way too close to the new console release.

As it's an investor call, the GTAV news will probably just be to explain why the latest instalment of T2's biggest, most lucrative franchise was delayed five months.

If they're doing cross-gen or a PC port then they would announce it. The sales that would result are something that investors would need to know and they'd have a duty to them to reveal anything that would have an impact on the financial outlook for the company.

I doubt they're going to announce GTAV for next gen consoles or PC already, the pattern Rockstar/T2 has taken over the years for the series is waiting a few months after release to announce it. That could negatively affect sales of the current generation version which is still likely to be out before other platforms while not necessarily replacing it with sales of a next gen version when they come out.

IMO we'll see an announcement for GTAV on PC in December of January for a spring release and an announcement in the summer for a PS4/Next XBox (which will be a port of the PC version) release of a "complete edition" with the DLC that will have been put out for the game in the Fall, they'll probably do that edition for the PS3/XB360 as well but of course the PS4/NXB version will be greatly superior visually and performance wise.
