You might have a few questions about The Order: 1886 , which is set to launch this month.

For instance, "how long is it?" And, "does it take full advantage of the powerful PlayStation 4?" Well, developer Ready at Dawn's Dana Jan tried to answer these questions in a recent interview (as cited by DualShockers ).

As for length, Jan wouldn't put an exact number on it, but he did say the game will be an "average length" for the third-person genre:

"The game length depends a bit on your ability and familiarity that you may have with this genre, but to give you an idea, it will not be far from the average offered by this type of game (third person shooter). As for hours of gameplay and gameplay will be very similar. The problem is that there is a misconception because the gameplay can be offered in different ways."

Linear third-person adventures, like Uncharted and Gears of War , typically go 10-15 hours, while slightly more open games (ala Tomb Raider ) will run you 20-30 or so. And yes, it depends on your proficiency, although most avid gamers won't have any problems. As for whether or not the game pushes PS4 to its limits, the answer is "no." Said Jan:

"I think we have not used the PS4 to it’s 100% limit, although it does not really matter what you do or what platform you’re working, you can always squeeze a little more and make everything flow a little faster. Whenever you go back to do some improvements the industry changes, and so we will continue working to get the best."

Excited for The Order: 1886 ? What are your expectations?

I don't care if this game "feels generic" as so many people are expecting, If they do generic gameplay really well then what's the problem? I've really been craving a linear adventure these days.

Being boring or generic? I have a hard time with that. Because, honestly, I expect to hit certain buttons and have them do the same thing. Move, look, shoot, toss grenade, crouch, etc. I want those to ALWAYS be the same button in every game. So in a sense, that right there makes it generic. We all have arms to hit with. How many different ways are there to hit, blah blah. Weird to be worried about that I think. Maybe I'm missing the point. Does it look cool? Do the characters move how I think they should? Is there cool stuff or story to do? That is what I care about.

PS4 maxed out? I think I'd be nervous if they said they did max it out. How could you a year in? They gave the better answer than to say yes.

You Stay Classy PSX…

I'm not expecting anything. I will play it and see what it is about. If I enjoy it great if not it's not a ley down.

Also, I don't hace a problem of it turns out to be a Gears of War clone as long it is done right.

and they essentially said no game ever will do that either. It's less about what the hardware is doing and more about how the developer tackles technical challenges on a case by case basis. There's always room for optimization. There's always room to figure out a more efficient way to do something.

The supposed "easy to program for x360" made huge strides between GTAIV and GTAV. Huge strides between Halo 3 and Halo 4 (visually). Huge strides between CoD2 and a current CoD. Huge strides between Oblivion and Skyrim. Huge strides between Forza 2 and Forza 4. Huge strides between Quake and Rage. Huge strides betw…. Yes yes Temjin you've made your point =p

I've never seen a game this hyped that showed so little. Likely a blessing, maybe RAD realized that we as gamers can dull the impact of playing through a title by consuming too much pre launch info. I know that happened to me with UC3 and Im glad ND is taking a very conservative approach this time around..

Yeah that happened to me with Uncharted 3 too. Still loved it but all this info for games to early can really bog down an experience.

This is the reason I never watch movie trailers for movies that I want to see.

I find trailers give away too much (good or bad). I'd rather just find out for myself from a blank slate.

No expectations here, just want a good game. Expectations are a dangerous thing, especially for reviewers (looking at you, Ben). ūüėČ

I just want an engaging cinematic experience with black letterboxing and 15FPS all in a Living, Breathing world.

Sounds to me like he's trying to tone down expectations… time will be "not be far from the average" = read it'll likely be shorter than average, and then "we have not used the PS4 to it’s 100% limit" = read it might not be the most technically advanced…

Well, either that or he's a very humble person…

How about some hype and getting people excited for your game?

that makes me feel quite aptimistic about the game and happy with the game should be good and have a good well written story which implies a good length so i'm epecting good things from this game

happy gaming

I can't wait for this game to come out. The Order and UC4 are the two main reasons I got a PS4.

Did anyone else notice that they were honest on the length? He didn't try to beautify it with jazzy expectations that won't be met. Kudos to them and respect from me.

I don't know anything about the games coming out for any of the newer consoles. This game looks like it can have an interesting story.

As long as it's a good playable book, I'm fine with generic gameplay.
