I've always said these guys should do their own game.

Developer Telltale Games has earned plenty of praise turning established franchises into fantastic narrative-driven episodic titles. They've done The Walking Dead , Borderlands , and most recently, Game of Thrones .

Now, though, they're working on their very first original franchise. Studio CEO Kevin Bruner tells GamesIndustry.biz that it's a very ambitious new project and it's perfectly suited to the team:

"I'll say we've spent a lot of time experimenting over the last decade with how powerful a storytelling tool interactive can be. And when we thought about building something from the ground up that gave us absolutely everything we could dream of as storytelling tools. The right kind of story, the right kind of setting, the right kind of people involved, everything."

Bruner said the new IP "kind of rose organically" and it's the "perfect thing" for Telltale. This implies the game will rely heavily on an excellent story and that's perfectly fine by us. Bruner wouldn't give us any more clues about the project but even so, color us excited. They've proven how important great storytelling can be in the interactive world and right now, we'd call them pioneers in the narrative-driven game.

Can't wait!

It's about time they try to do something original with a story of their own!!

That Minecraft announcement still has a bad taste in my mouth, and it hardly even matters if they somehow manage to make a good game out of it.. Just the fact that it's minecraft makes me not wanna play it.

I have to start wondering though, how much have they expanded their team lately to be able to make all these different games simultaneously?? How many are there now anyway, Walking Dead, Borderlands, Game of Thrones, Wolf among us, minecraft, and now another one?? Can they really keep that many projects going on at the same time, oh and make them all good?

I'd rather see them focus on fewer projects, improve their severely outdated engine and make those shine!
