It's not the same game from the arcades, ya know.
There are all sorts of new features in Mortal Kombat X and we learn more about them in a recently released trailer.
At the top of the list is Faction Wars, an online, persistent metagame that everyone with an internet connection can sample. Players choose from one of five Factions (White Lotus, Brotherhood of Shadow, Black Dragon, Special Forces, or Lin Kuei) and after that, all your activities contribute points to that particular faction. At the end of each week, the points are tallied and the faction with the most points earns special rewards.
We also get a peek at the dynamic towers, a series of challenges that can change at any given time. In short, we should be looking at a hugely robust fighter with more content than most titles in the genre, and we haven't even learned about the regular Story Mode just yet. Translation: Hours and hours of entertainment!
Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to release on April 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
