Destiny aficionados are eagerly anticipating the upcoming expansion, House of Wolves.

But there's good news after that: Developer Bungie is planning something big as a follow-up effort!

Activision has confirmed that Destiny will get a "major content release" this fall and even that doesn't mark the end, as more will follow. Said Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg:

"We have a second [Destiny] expansion on the way, and a major content release coming in the fall. And a very robust pipeline planned after that."

Don't forget that they've already confirmed a Destiny sequel, which is presumably an entirely new standalone project. Sounds like Bungie will have their hands full for some years to come, huh? The question is, does this game have the necessary staying power to stick around for the purported decade-long lifespan?

What do you say? Will it make it?

Let me answer your question. No it does not. I will not buy another DLC until next year, when it is all out.

i cant wait! if ur a fan of the game, you feel me. if youre a whining lil b**** go cry on the bungie forums.

my prediction: after house of wolves, this next major content release they speak of will be free. because where the direction will go will connect destiny 2 which is why i see the first one lasting long enough til its release. either i have high hopes or bungies got something in store for us.

Destiny is game that I play every day and even twice sometimes. I have a lot of fun ranking various weapons and gear up, but I am running into a wall per se.

I need something *new* to do.

I bought the Limited Edition, so I technically already own the first two expansions. Let's just say that at the moment, the first expansion has addressed a few things: mission and strike gameplay plays to the Hive's strengths. The raid… it's fun, but I don't enjoy it as much as Vault of Glass and the varied gameplay it has. It felt like the VoG team took on the DLC missions, and the story designers took on this raid, actually. All missions should be more than just going from point A to B and killing things along the way, let the players figure things out, too!
The worst part about the first expansion was how the VoG armor was quickly outclassed by the vendor gear, not to mention the requirement to level up exotics again was certainly annoying. Bungie has stated they promise not to do that again, but we'll see.
House of Wolves is certainly a make or break for most of my group, and I will certainly step away from the game if the new content can't flesh out the story like it should have in the first place, and the only thing to look forward to is no gear without allowing players to scale their existing gear's power.
