Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was only for last-gen platforms.

And even though it was a darn good game, it only made franchise fans pine for a true next-gen iteration.

Well, don't worry: The new Borderlands project, the one Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford dubbed "the big one," is being developed "specifically for next-gen consoles." Take-Two president Karl Slatoff confirmed as much during the company's recent financial report . Obviously, this means the new title is headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it likely won't be available for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

It's probably the right approach. During the first year of the new consoles, we saw lots of cross-over titles and many thought these games were held back by older hardware. After all, they had to function on PS3 and 360 in addition to being on PS4 and Xbox One. Therefore, when a team focuses solely on the new systems, fans are rightfully pleased.
