Okay, so you really want a sequel to The Last Of Us .
We understand your desire. We really do. But we're just gonna have to be patient.
Until Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is out the door, developer Naughty Dog isn't interested in talking about the possibility of The Last Of Us 2 . And in fact, to assume such a project even exists is a "big if." This according to what Naughty Dog bosses Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann said in a recent Game Informer interview :
"That's all a big if. We're 110 percent in Uncharted 4 territory now. Blinders on, make this awesome."
However, there are some fans of TLoU who don't want to see a sequel, in much the same way Heavy Rain followers always want new IPs from Quantic Dream. In response to this, Druckmann said:
"We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well. We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we've brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4."
Druckmann added that it's a "big assumption" that Naughty Dog will ever produce a TLoU 2, so it sounds like the idea isn't even in the brainstorming phase just yet. Do you want a sequel or would you be okay with TLoU being a one-and-done game?
Oh no what shall i do with myself, a big if for tlou 2. I might just end it all now!
When someone says they want to end it all, I found out it's best to remind them of all the money they owe. Like back child support, hospital bills, alimony, or taxes. A little encouragement goes a long way.
i think the most popular opinion is that a sequel would be awesome but only if it had a new story line instead of being a direct sequel
I ought to finish the first game. But I do hope for a sequel.
Yeah it's worth the time. The ending only gets better as you wrap your mind around it a little.
Lou is such a great game, i got the ps4 edition the other day and damn it was great playing it again. I would love a Lou sequel however I would also love a new Ip. So what ever they do makes me happy! Hail to the one the best developers ever!
I would prefer TLOU be one and done just purely based on how things end. However there is one way I would like a second to play out but I doubt it would. Therefor I'm fine with the one.
Uncharted and the last of us shared universe, that will be awesome…
oh rubbish!
as cliffy said you don't turn your back on such a popular franchise after just one outing!
TLoU2 is not if, simply when!
really hope its a prequel though, id be nice to see the origins of the infection and more importantly the development of the city and those around it, i.e. the relationship development between all the characters mainly jole tess and bill.
A sequel? No.
But a prequel, how it all began – that would be awsome!
I could actually get behind that idea… maybe a story that revolves around "Patient-0" or something like that.
Knowing Naughty Dog, I am sure they could craft a tragic story around that premise!
I like the idea of a Prequel "Patient Zero" type thing, but do you think it could hold up to being an entire game without feeling hokey? I just don't see how it could be a full stand alone, but I do have faith that if anyone could pull it off, it would be Naughty Dog. Geniuses over there.
I wouldn't be upset with a sequel because the first was so amazing.
That being said, because it was so amazing, I'd also be satisfied with there never being a sequel and allowing it to go into the annals of video game history as a beautiful relic to warm our hearts whenever we think on it. (And for the kids of 15 years from now to let us know that FF6 was better because they were told to believe that to be video game hipsters)

i hear crickets
Never heard of that band. 😉
TLoU was amazing. It really was. From front all the way to back, it was a true and complete masterpiece. I know there are people here who haven't finished it so I won't spoil anything, but the simplicity of the ending was just so powerful and so beautiful that I don't know that a direct sequel is needed, or if it would even do much justice to the world of TLoU.
I know that when we get into a great, epic, beautiful world like TLoU, we tend to want more. We don't want the end to be it, we want to flesh it al out in every aspect and explore every nuance. I get it, I do the same thing, but there is something to be said for the imagination aspect, the "draw your own conclusions" aspect to what happens after the curtain closes.
Could they make a great sequel as powerful as the first game? Yeah, probably. But there is the possibility that they completely change what you envisioned it to be, leaving you with a bit of a resentment because you drew a different meaning from it. It could be just not as good, or go in a direction that doesn't seem natural. It could be the perfect sequel. So many possibilities.
Anyway, I'm rambling away now. So, do I want a sequel? Yes and no. Selfishly, I want more, but realistically I'm extremely satisfied for what I experienced.
If they mess that ending up ill be pissed. If they make a new entry, I would prefer an all new cast of characters set somewhere else.
well i think is always gunn be a 50/50 call could go either way
happy gaming
