Time to revisit a horror classic!
"Friday the 13th" is a legendary horror movie but we haven't seen a game based on the film since the NES effort 25 years ago (1989).
However, as revealed by EGM , a new game, simply entitled, Friday the 13th , is in development and will feature asymmetrical, cooperative and competitive multiplayer. It's predator vs. prey as a small group of resourceful survivors must face off against a single player who assumes the role of the infamous Jason.
The game is slated for "multiple platforms" and it should be ready to go in October. Yep, just in time for Halloween! Said Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the original film:
"With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form. We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."
Here's hoping it's just what fear aficionados want. The multiplayer premise reminds us a bit of Turtle Rock Studios' upcoming Evolve , where four players must take down one player who takes the form of a massive monster. Let's hope both games turn out well.
