Time to revisit a horror classic!

"Friday the 13th" is a legendary horror movie but we haven't seen a game based on the film since the NES effort 25 years ago (1989).

However, as revealed by EGM , a new game, simply entitled, Friday the 13th , is in development and will feature asymmetrical, cooperative and competitive multiplayer. It's predator vs. prey as a small group of resourceful survivors must face off against a single player who assumes the role of the infamous Jason.

The game is slated for "multiple platforms" and it should be ready to go in October. Yep, just in time for Halloween! Said Sean S. Cunningham, creator of the original film:

"With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form. We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect."

Here's hoping it's just what fear aficionados want. The multiplayer premise reminds us a bit of Turtle Rock Studios' upcoming Evolve , where four players must take down one player who takes the form of a massive monster. Let's hope both games turn out well.

The Jason Player needs to have several options in order to make this work and the Camp as to be a big open area, the potential of this it's amazing I hope they do well.

TV show? I wonder how that will go. I have huge history with this franchise. I'd ride my bike up to the video place and rent these movies all the time as a kid. Nobody cared about R ratings in those days and it was like a mom n pop video rental store, if mom n pop liked gore and pornography. They did keep us out of that section though.

sigh.
oh come on this could of been SOOOOOOOOO cool as a story based game!
imagine playing as the victims mission from mission trying to calculate evidence and understand how he kills his victims and try gain the advantage on him mission by mission, and every so few missions you switch over to jason to ruin the plans and take away one member of the puzzle making the next missions that little bit harder.
come on horror has been screaming for the return of old school slasher games this would of been the perfect fix!
oh well i guess until dawn will have to do………

I really hate how this and Nosgoth are both multiplayer only.
If there's no story whatsoever how am I supposed to be immersed? Not to mention I refuse to pay for plus just to play one or two games online the odd time.
