With so many great games on the horizon for 2015, perhaps it'd be difficult to choose.

And of course, we don't know about every single promising title that will launch this year, so this question is way premature.

Still fun to consider, though: At the end of the year, which game will be the best? Which is the one that will have secured the most 9s from critics? Which one will be your favorite? Do you think CD Projekt Red will wow the gaming world with the hugely anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ? Or will Naughty Dog rule the roost yet again with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End ? Is it possible that Batman: Arkham Knight will be even better than any previous entry? And what about new PlayStation 4 exclusive IPs like Bloodborne and The Order: 1886 ? Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain might make a strong case, too, just 'cuz it's MGS.

Then again, maybe you're a world-renowned optimist and you firmly believe Final Fantasy will reclaim long-lost glory with FFXV. Whatever your pick, let us know in the Comments and remember to defend that pick! Also, don't forget that your "favorite" game of the year won't necessarily be the "best." In fact, those two games are rarely the same for me. 😉

There'll be many opinions about GotY but if I had to do a blind guess right now I'd have to say MGSV The Phantom Pain for PS4.

I think for overall we'll see the new Zelda game contending for the throne as well.

It's a huge year for heavy hitters. That's for sure. I have hope for Uncharted 4 but I just have a lingering doubt that it won't quite hit as strongly with everyone being a straight forward action game with characters that don't seem all too interesting anymore (at least to me).

I know MY personal goty is going to be The Order, but I think at the end of the year MGSV is going to get the most recognition from gaming sites.

I can't choose, probably going to be Uncharted 4, MGSV, Halo 5, or the new Zelda.

Phantom Pain, no doubt.

I'd like to say the witcher 3, but most likely it'll be either uncharted 4 or mgsv

Hope they don't make MGSV like IV or Peace Walker, hmm I'm gonna side with Uncharted 4 and Bloodborne atm.

If anything it will be closer to Peace Walker, but just even better. Certainly a better story…

MGS 4 was awesome, though.

Peace Walker format of do missions and the lack of charismatic bosses ruined it for me, MGSIV was awesome for is time but I don't want to play another MGS with so much focus on the cinemas, yes MGS was always like that but MGSIV took it to a new level that I didn't enjoy.

MGS5 is going to be mission based like Peace Walker.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, not just cus it's a Metal Gear but because it has the potential to best the beast Metal Gear ever made. The story has been one I have waited to see ever since the ending of MGS3 – Portable Ops and Peace Walker have just been plodding on but it is The Phantom Pain which will really cover Big Bosses change into a broken down corrupt human being, I can't wait to see it.

Are a lot of people expecting Final Fantasy XV this year? Seems to be on every gaming sites list as an anticipated title for 2015… I doubt we'll see it until 2016 but I'd certainly welcome it this year 🙂

If The Witcher delivers, I think it will win. If not MGSV.

Witcher, The Division, MGS V, Uncharted, or No Man's Sky.

Non-Sony Console exclusives.
Zelda or Xeno Blade.

Mgsv seem more deserving to me than Uncharted at this point. With uncharted I've yet to see anything new other than grappling hook and rock climbing with knives. I can only get used to so much run, cover, gun, climb and omg close call scenes that I've seen so many from the past three. Mgsv seem to be making a revolutionary uplift to the franchise with so many new elements to look for that really do seem to offer that unlimited methods of executing your missions.

FFXV is pretty ambitious as well but I don't see this game coming in 2015.

I'm sorry to say that No man's sky is the only game I know of so far that I am truly excited about. Still I am afraid it will not deliver as promised.
So I got a strong feeling my GOTY for 2015 is not yet known.

I *should* be more excited about the Witcher, but I just can't get into the main protagonist. Witcher 2 is a beauty of a game, it has everything I should love, but still… I just don't like that ice cold looking priest with an overly macho attitude.

But I should really start keeping a keen eye on the indie scene. I've just recently discovered a TRUE gem of a game, "Transistor".
If you haven't already, just buy it.
It's a turnbased/realtime blend (ala the "halt time and command" battle style in Dragon Age) RPG with cool skill combinations and it's overall utterly charming. Plus it's got a wonderfully cool voice-over (just like they did in Bastion).

Quality is arising on the indie scene for sure.

Beam, you must've been checked out when Transistor released. I know I was vocal about how cool it is. I played and finished it. It was cool and unique.

I think No Man's Sky looks fascinating but I'm wondering if there's any real notable substance to it's play. I also get a little concerned when a game really advocates it's random and procedural generated worlds. This suggests to me a loose and directionless nature to it's play structure.

If you can't get into the main character of the witcher 2 then you will have some problems.

I don't know what the problem you're having is though, he is a very grey moral character and is voice acted very well.

He is actually one of my favourite characters in recent history and more interesting and better written IMO opinion than any character from any of the recent bioware games.

He grew on me though, I didn't care for him in the witcher 1 but by the end of that game loved him.

@Temmy: Yeah I wasn't often around last summer.
Transistor is indeed unique. Wonderful artwork, and fantastic voice.

And I agree with your whole comment on No Mans Sky. It does indeed sound kinda like a tech demo more than an actual game. But if… IF they have actually managed to make a procedural universe that has content that makes sense, well then that game might end up being the beginning of a new chapter of gaming, no less.
We are allowed to hope…!

@Xenris: Yeah well I guess the main problem here is me, really. I am so grown to be used to create my own character in RPGs that being handed an already made character is a let down. And I am embarrassed to say so. It didn't use to be like this.

But as games are more and more entering a "virtual reality" state, things change. At least for me.

The Witcher 3 if it can do what the Witcher 2 did, and then all the stuff they want the new one to do it will get GotY hands down. I hope they win because they are a smaller dev.

Its hard to tell because any of the huge sequels coming out in 2015 could drop the ball and fail terribly.

I think most likely sites are going to go with Uncharted or MGS5.

i have to say i think that all games mentioned should be amazing atleast that my estimation but as for the one that will be the best and or GOTY compared to my favaourite thats really hard to say but my initial call for each of them will be unchartered MGSV/the witcher and the order respectively but thats subject to change

happy gaming
