Resident Evil Remake Dated, Priced

It's almost time to relive a classic horror experience.

Capcom has announced that the much-anticipated Resident Evil Remake will release on January 20, 2015. The publisher calls it the "definitive version" of the acclaimed IP, and it darn well better be.

The price is also quite attractive: $20 for all platforms; PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. If you've forgotten (or you haven't been paying attention to gaming news), this is an HD re-iteration of 2002's Resident Evil REmake that released on the GameCube. That was a remake of the original 1996 title, so yeah, this is the second revamping of the freaky trailblazer.

Additionally, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will hit consoles and PC in 2015, and a recent report hints at the existence of Resident Evil 7 . You gotta assume it's coming at some point.

Is it really a "definitive edition"? They can always remake it again and better for PS5…
Anyway that was my favorite RE. Price is ok so I might grab it for the sake of nostalgia:)

They can remake it, alright. But this REmaster of the 2002 game will be the only definitive SHINJI MIKAMI edition of the classic game that you'll ever get to play.

Unless Mikami goes back to Capcom (not happening), this is as good as it will ever get.

Now I keep reading people on the web thinking this is the same game as the PSX classic. And that aside from graphic, nothing else is new.

That's not the case. The 2002 remake features entirely new cutscenes (around 70 minutes), new areas to explore, new sub-plots, and enemy placement has been changed around.

There is also some extras like new skins for the characters and extra modes (Real Survival & Invisible mode)

So if you guys wanna support a possible remake of RE2, please give this game a try. (And no, I don't work for Capcom – I just want to see RE2 get the same treatment).

Still seems wrong to not be bundled with Resident Evil Zero… I bought Kingdom Hearts 2.5 for the same price…

I still have RE Zero sitting on my gaming shelf 🙂 Haven't touched it in a decade-plus but can't bear to let it go, I relish the classic survival horror games too much!

They can't do a remake of the PS original game because the gamecube version had better graphics?

The ps3 version of Resident Evil Remake is already out here in our country, Philippines, and it costs at around 1500 pesos which is around $35. I'll probably buy it once we have received our 13th month pay at work.. ^_^
