Hey, remember MGO?

Looks like Metal Gear Solid guru is bringing it back for a new generation, according to game personality Geoff Keighley.

As he revealed via Twitter , Kojima will announce the next edition of Metal Gear Online during the annual Video Game Awards in early December. We don't know whether we'll see actual gameplay at the time, but we'd settle for a teaser trailer.

MGO was first released in 2008; it came bundled with the fantastic Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots . Over one million gamers signed up to play online but in 2012, Konami opted to shut down the servers. If this is indeed a resurrection (or an entirely new MGO experience), it'll be catnip for hardcore franchise fans!

loved mgo in mgs3! I hope this new mgo does make a few changes to adapt to the way online gaming has evolved. One thing that always bothered me was putting a whole clip into someone to kill them.

You just had to aim high get a head shot and they were down in one. I like everything about mgo and how well the controls were too.

Could never really get into the MGO on Guns of the Patriots. It wasn't so much the lack of high speed wifi it was the fact that the story mode was so damn perfect I couldn't stop replaying it!

The last time I really dove into MGO was the one on Portable Ops. There was a lot of traffic for the old PSP game!

YES! YES! This is why I shall be forced into PS+ with the PS4… But gosh it will be worth it. I still have not found a substitute for MGO on the PS3. MGO was just so diverse and fun, you could do also sorts of silly little things, it wasn't just limited to a kill fest like most online games. Can't wait for this.

I loved stunning people then jacking to get their team info. If you got jacked in the tournaments MGO had man you were screwed for that round. It was so much fun.

Shucks, never got a chance to play MGO in MGS4.. Hope this won't be a repeat with this new one, like shutting down the servers in 5 years or so.
