As usual, the PlayStation 4 version comes out just a little bit ahead.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare technically launches tomorrow, but those who pre-ordered can pick up the Day Zero Edition and have it today.

As for maximum resolution, Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey revealed the stats in a recent Ask Me Anything Reddit session :

"Minimum Xbox One resolution is 1360×1080, and dynamically scales from there to full 1080p. That's over 50% increase from last year. Advanced Warfare runs native 1080p on PS4."

As for frame rate, both versions will manage 60 frames per second, so that's good news for Xbox One owners. However, once again, another multiplatform production produces better resolution on Sony's console, and some are wondering if this trend will ever change. Microsoft claims it will, but we'll have to wait and see…

Counting Resolution – PS4 Game of the Year?. Game looks absolutely gorgeous on both systems, having seen in on my X1 and my daughter's PS4. Those casual gamers (yes if you are on the internet debating games and resolution in any amount that equals more than 1% of the time you actually play games, you're a casual) can count numbers, I'll use an old gamer trick I've been using for 35 years to tell if a game looks good or not: my eyes.

FPS really shine when the frame rate is nice and stable. Aside from that, I personally don't foresee many gamers pausing to "enjoy the detail". That's why game like this can offer so little yet sell so well. The winning formula is the junkie behind the controller.

Props for the improvement on Xbox one.

But what about the detail? I mean, you can have all the resolution in the world but detail is what matters.

DF is reporting that the single player frame rate is more solid on XO as of now. Bear in mind this is because the game is always 1080p and v-locked on PS4, whereas the the XO version only "occasionally" hits a full 1080p. It's usually below that.
And while the XO version is usually v-locked, the game will disengage v-lock to help keep the frames high. This is huge actually. Anytime a game doesn't have to be v-locked, frames can always get a lot higher. The trade-off, however, is screen tearing. I'm just curious as to why Sledgehammer didn't bother to implement any scaling for the PS4. Because really, when things are under load, the PS4 is literally pushing 2073600 pixels at all times, whereas the XO takes a major drop at 1468800 pixels, meaning the PS4 is being pushed 30% harder in pixel throughput, and it does this completely v-locked. So the math does make sense, when looking at the PS4's hardware advantage over XO. It's just Sledgehammer's implementation is something of a head scratcher. I suspect a patch will clean stuff up in the near future.
