Online Retailer Reports “Unprecedented Demand” For PS4

Last week, UK retailer GAME said pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 were already performing very well , and now another retailer is seeing immense demand for Sony's new console.

According to NowGamer , online retailer ShopTo has reported "unprecedented demand" and says their traffic tripled on the night of the PlayStation Meeting, which is of course when Sony unveiled their new system.

The PS4 has been the "biggest pre-order success in the company's history" and so far, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Watch Dogs have been the most pre-ordered titles, although DriveClub is also pretty popular. The announcement of the PS4 also increased registrations at ShopTo, mostly so customers could get their deposit down on the new console. Lastly, it helps that potentially great new software has been revealed because after all, gamers don't respond without the games .

He did add that although the console holds a £399.95 price tag at the ShopTo website, it isn't official and "nothing has been confirmed from anyone." We'll probably have to wait until E3 for that but in the meantime, the PS4 appears to be a hot item.

Agreed World, I'm getting this very strong PS1/PS2 vibe from the PS4.
I hope Sony can push a basic model for $350, that would prompt a stampede of early adopters.
If they could still sustain a loss on the hardware early on, I would suggest they take it, as big as they can afford, for the sake of building a early lead and assuring developers that they are the horse to bet on.

I am glad to say Sony made the first move for Next Gen. Wii U IMO isn't next gen. It has the graphics of a current gen system and the "lcd controller" can be done (in limited capacity) on the Ps3 and PSP/Vita. I'm glad to see Sony getting alot of BUZZ, which could in turn create more "buys" for systems exclusives.

Because let's be real, even though The PS3 has/had amazing in house games, the sales didnt show that. My goal right now, attain a Vita and wait for the PS4 to land. Then my party REALLY begins!

I will pre-order as soon as the system is available to do so. I am sure we will be getting more info on the PS4 after MS has their hoorah next month. Sony can ill afford to let MS steal their thunder.

I'm glad Sony stuck to their guns and made the first move. Even though Sony has at least matched the PS3 sales of the 360 with a year-late start at this point, I think they realize the importance of arriving a bit earlier. If they can keep prices competitive and arrive at the same time as the nextbox or earlier, I'm pretty confident Sony will dominate again, including the US. I'm talking short AND long term son. That is the real definition of dominance.
