Evolution Disables Driveclub Features To Work On Issues

Driveclub is a fun game with lots of potential.

But it's not much fun when it doesn't work.

Many who purchased the new next-gen racing effort from Evolution Studios have reported numerous problems with the online aspect. The good news is that the developer is working "non-stop" to fix these issues, as stated on the game's official Facebook page . Evolution says they just released another server update but they're not done. Unfortunately, they have to disable some features while they work:

"In order to keep building on these numbers, we will be running further updates in the coming days that will affect availability of some of the online game features. Some functions are temporarily unavailable including challenges and social updates, but for those of you that can connect, you will still be able to participate in clubs, leaderboards, and online multiplayer races."

They did clarify that players should still be able to access the Tour mode, custom solo events and car customization when playing offline. It's just too bad that the single-player content isn't quite robust enough, as we noted in our review (linked above). Evolution understands the situation isn't "ideal" but they're trying their best.

I suppose that's all we can ask for.

My game hasn't been able to go online yet. I've had it since day 1. Thankfully, the Tour mode has absorbed all of my time while I wait. I just got my first Ferarri. I like it's handling better than the other cars so far. I'm excited to feel the higher end cars from here. Those may give me the style of drifting I'm after.

What a mess. I bought the game solely for the online stuff only for. It not to be working. Solo play isn't much but that's expected. This whole mess isn't. Poor evolution studios. They must be working overtime on this.

amazing, delayed a whole freaking year and the games STILL a buggy mess!
boggles the mind how $ony can produce a game like this which is hardly amazingly ambitious and have so many server issues, where bungie has created a game 10000000 times more ambitious, over FOUR different platforms, and they have barely had any server errors AT ALL!
hell destinys the only game ive EVER played launch week where i did not have one single problem, no lag, no freezing, no network connection drops, no server boots, worked flawlessly!
how can bungie chew off 10 tonnes over 4 platforms and do it perfectly, where $ony one of the industries biggest companies, chew off 10 grams completely screw it up!?
amazing!!!!!!!!

And another Sony studio delivers mediocrity…between this and the constant "scheduled maintenance" downtimes for the Network, one has to wonder what the hell is going on at Sony. For all the talk, they are lagging behing their competitors in a huge way.

Not sure what your definition of "mediocre" is but I'd love to see all the great stuff delivered by Microsoft first-party studios this generation. Really, I would.

come on Kid, tell us how great Nintendo is now. I just know that's the angle you're gonna take with this.

Either that, or he's going to blather about how Xbox Live is just so much better, or how Titanfall is the be-all end-all of next-gen entertainment.
