Sony said it could happen, and it has.

As part of the SOE Live 2014 event, Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed that the free-to-play zombie adventure, H1Z1 , is headed to the PlayStation 4. This comes after SOE president John Smedley said back in May that a PS4 version was definitely possible.

We don't have a release date just yet, but at least we know it's coming. The game was inspired by DayZ and The Walking Dead and it'll launch for PC via Steam Early Access later this year. There's no concrete for that one, either, so it's feasible that the PS4 and PC iterations will come out around the same time.

SOE also announced that another free-to-play multiplayer game, PlanetSide 2 , will launch later this year, also as an Early Access game. If you don't mind the controversial F2P model, you should give these games a try.

Aww you had me really excited that it was confirmed to be this year.
I have been watching the Dev streams and from the way they have been talking there is almost 0 chance it will hit the PS4 soon after it hits Steam Early access. It is still going to be in rough Alpha when it hits Steam and while PC gamers seem to be fine spending $20 to have early access to a buggy unfinished game that will be free at launch doubt console gamers will be up for that.

My guess is we will get it a short time after the PC version goes into Beta.

The Sony Devs working on this game are such trolls. XD If no one has checked out the gameplay videos of this game I recommend checking them out they are quite amusing. With how much they seem to be enjoying their work I have high hopes for this. They have also confirmed the Cash Shop for H1Z1 will be purely cosmetic they said giving players access to beneficial items in a game about survival would make no sense.

I still find it interesting that Sony Online Entertainment is making games for the PC first and foremost.

I mean, wouldn't positioning H1Z1 as a PS4 exclusive be better for business?

They must be trying to beef up PC presence to push MS out of that market first.

Some F2P games have pulled the model off quite well, like Path of Exile. That game is awesome and you can't just pay to win, it's just not set up that way. I have high hopes that this game will be in the same line as that with regards to their F2P model.
