Driveclub Might Be Better Than Everyone Seems To Think

If you ask around, I'm not sure you'll find a lot of people who are totally gung-ho about Driveclub .

In my experience, the typical reaction to the PlayStation 4 exclusive from Evolution Studios is, "meh, I might try it." My point is that excitement doesn't exactly seem to be hitting a fever pitch; it's not like a new Gran Turismo .

And I've been one of the less enthusiastic ever since Driveclub was announced. I love me some GT and I have a lot of respect for Evolution (these guys know racing), but this new project just wasn't doing it for me. I wasn't a big fan of the big social emphasis, for one, and I wasn't enamored with the gameplay descriptions I'd read, either. It just wasn't coming together in my brain as a fully robust AAA production, you know?

But if you really sit back and drink in all the details we've received this year, you might start to become more excited. I have. I'm still not saying it'll be a definitive new IP for the PlayStation brand, but I'm more than willing to give it a chance. The developers are putting a lot of effort into making this look and feel like a next-gen racing experience. That's worthy of recognition, I say. Furthermore, don't forget that internal Sony studios always have a PlayStation console closer to their hearts; they're more capable of wowing us before multiplatform devs, in my estimation.

So, if you've been ignoring Driveclub thus far, I heartily recommend doing a little research. You might be surprised at what you find…

I think it seems like a cool racing game.
But as a big Motorstorm fan I just can't help but think how much I'd rather have one of their off-road romps over another sports car racer…. which ought to be 60fps by my liking.

Still. Drive Club looks nice. I'll check it out when it hits PS Plus in October.

I'm right there with you, especially in regards to Motor Storm. I'd love a next generation MS game, considering as how that was the game that originally got me hooked on the PS3. I even have Arctic Edge on the PSP, which I still play to this day. I'd love a real Motor Storm on the Vita as well, but the odds of that happening nowadays are next to none.

As for Drive Club, that's actually the only game I'm generally looking forward to, at least when it comes to exclusives.

All I want is a true sequel to Burnout Paradise. I've grown bored with sim racers and games like Driveclub, that try to balance between sims like Forza and GT and arcade racers like Burnout, just never interested me very much.

I'm with you man. Been waiting for BP2 for a long time now. I'm kinda bored of real racing simulators and hope BP2 will gonna happen eventually.

Me too. Burnout Paradise was the perfect arcade racer playground. The coolest I've ever played.

Excellent coop feature, great over-the-top action, nice graphics, cool openness and loads of great spots to play around in, fun collectibles, that game had it all.

As someone who really wants a good racer on the PS4, I've been following Driveclub's progress and I'm definitely interested.

I've been a little disenchanted with the GT series ever since their lackluster damage system. Man, was that terrible. I guess I just expected more and what was there sorely disappointed. From a series that emphasized realistic physics, the effects of crashing into a wall at 100 mph were…well, less than realistic. I think I would have been happier if Polyphony just left it out completely.

Anyway, point is, I would like a good racer, so it's either Driveclub or Project Cars for me.

I've loved the motorstorm games evolution have created and they've proven that they kno how to make a good racing game… I'm sure Driveclub will be awesome too… Of course it helps that we get to try it out for free with PS Plus before deciding if getting the full version is worth it

This title looks fantastic so far and I just hope they can deliver in the final release.

I was hoping, and I suppose I still am, that the social aspects can either be ignored completely or do not impact significantly on the single player experience. Then I might be tempted to buy a PS4 and it at the same time. If it is very much multiplayer focused then I shall give it a miss.

I have no business buying a PS4 yet and this is not good enough to convince me, either. With Project CARS coming, I'll be too busy with it to bother, by then.

So after the delay this went from a free PS plus version or u could buy a full version to $50 n u hafta have plus to play it and an additional $25 season pass no thanks after a stunt like that I'll never buy a game from this developer period
