A beta test gives the developer a chance to see how the game has progressed, and what still needs to be fixed.
In the case of Destiny , we're hoping players didn't locate too many serious issues, because Bungie would only have until late-August to fix 'em. Either way, the designers are immensely pleased with the results of the beta.
As the beta closed its doors, Bungie posted the following message on Facebook :
"The Destiny Beta was a tremendous success from where we sat overlooking the Tower. If you played, Bungie thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. We learned so much about our game, and how we can make it better.
Your next adventure begins on September 9th when we launch Destiny. Once we do that, we intend to keep it in orbit for a very long time. See you starside."
We don't know how many people actually tried out the beta, but Bungie community manger Eric Osborne wrote on Twitter that he was absolutely "gobsmacked by the numbers." Well, sure…open up a beta to everyone and that's what's gonna happen.
And according to our recent poll results , the vast majority of individuals out there really loved that beta. Bring on September 9!

If Halo and Borderlands had a baby, this would be it. With Star Wars maybe being the godfather (speeder bikes lol).
The beta gave us all a glimpse into Destiny, with the level capped at 8 (I hope the highest level is not 15) we were able to explore Old Russia, embark on a small amount of story missions, enter a Strike mission (large mission with co-op intended gameplay), and try your metal against other guardians in the Crucible. Not to mention the final day moon mission surprise which I found very entertaining and left me wanting more.
They definitely touched up on Dinklage's voice as your Ghost, which I have no problem with now.
I hope the devs got enough feedback from the beta to tweak this game closer to perfection to give us something we have all been waiting for.
20 is the confirmed level cap and from data-mining the beta build there were 34 missions, though the end credits counted as one, over 20 strikes, and over 140 "activities". But there very well may be more who knows how early of a build this beta was running.
There are also already 2 expansions for preorder so who knows how much those will add to the game.
After exploring the Moon and going in the Hive "city" I am now quite hopeful.
You're welcome, but coming games keep me from purchasing yours at this time.
this game is going to rule 2014.
I never ran into any problems while playing the game. I missed the moon mission thanks to my roommate, but I still enjoyed it. I don't know if twenty would be a good level cap considering I got to eight in just a few hours.
