Oh, like you didn't see this coming.

During the Evolution Championship Series in Las Vegas, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon revealed a new fighter for the anticipated Mortal Kombat X : The legendary Thunder God, Raiden.

Each of the MKX characters will have three fighting styles available; you select one at the start of a match, and you're locked into it for the duration of that particular showdown. Raiden's three styles are Thunder God (a focus on flashy combos), Displacer (taking advantage of tricks and teleporting), and Storm Lord (Raiden can place lightning orbs as traps). Chances are, the in-your-face type of fighters will choose Thunder God, those who want to be tricky (and a little nostalgic) will go for Displacer, and the strategic planners might try Storm Lord.

Anyway, here he is in all his electrical glory:

I'm so psyched for this. I didn't think they could top the last one but this looks so much better. The graphics are incredible and the fatalities are even more brutal. Day 1 purchase for me whenever that day is.

Seen this trailer almost 2 days ago.this game looks really awesome though.I absolutely hate raiden after what happened in mk 9 story.matter of fact they should just keep a "story" mode out of the game and just stick with an epilogue for each character after you beat the last boss in ladder story mode.those stories actually made sense.I don't know what ed boon was thinking when he came with the story for mk 9. Its like a meth head who lost everything has nothing but one day had an epiphany and miraculously quit meth.he then got a job as a janitor at a movie studio, had acting skills he didn't knew he had.he then got famous and rich.bought expensive cars and a mansion.everything was great and he completely turned his life around.then one random day he burnt his house down with all his money inside and went back to smoking meth under a bridge.THAT was the logic of mortal Kombat 9's story.

Wow. You're kind of a dick. Don't get me wrong, I am too. The difference is I'm not a dick to people that put a lot of quality work into something. My dickishness at least has standards.

You've already given me a black eye… except… that was from my own facepalm from reading your comments. But indirectly, you gave me the black eye.

While it looks cool, I'm really wondering why they aren't implementing soft cloth physics on the fighter's outfits. I'm referring to the actual suit and not the dangling stuff like capes and loin clothes. Raiden's pants and sleeves etc are still just hard objects with the usual last-gen implementation of such things. If MK won't do it then someone else will and when they do it'll make this feel pretty dated in that regard, visually.

EDIT: Now bring on some Jax footage!

I hope all games start doing that, the hard objects are things I'm starting to call "last-gen" on.

Not sure about those 3 fighting styles.
