The Evil Within will be a bloody game. But blood isn't always bad.

Publisher Bethesda has announced a very helpful promotion for their upcoming survival/horror title and when we say "helpful," we mean for everyone.

The company has teamed up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive at next weekend's QuakeCon 2014. The initiative is fittingly called "The Good Within" and if you choose to donate, you'll receive an official "chill pack." This will take place at the QuakeCon site – the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas – on July 18 and 19 (the show itself runs from the 17th to the 20th). You can sign up to donate blood when you're there, but you must meet the Red Cross' eligibility requirements .

Said Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines:

"QuakeCon has a great group of attendees who we think will want to help the community by donating blood. The American Red Cross is a terrific organization, and we're thrilled to welcome them to QuakeCon."

American Red Cross communications manager Jan Hale said they're pleased that Bethesda has approached them with this promotion, as "the summer months are a particularly difficult period for blood collections." See? Who says game companies aren't civic-minded?
