Last year, the amazing 4K high-definition resolution was revealed. You can actually buy a TV now that supports such an insane resolution, although it'll cost you $25k.

Many were wondering if Sony's new PlayStation would support the new high-def limit and as it turns out, it will. But according to Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, the games will not . So don't expect to see titles running at wacky native 4K resolution later in the system's lifespan.

The system will support 4K resolution output for video recorded in that format. So that's something, right? In addition, Yoshida confirmed that there will be no price cut for the PlayStation Vita in North America. At least, "not anytime soon." Sony slashed the price of their new portable in Japan a few weeks ago and many assumed the same would happen in other regions. However, citing exchange rates as one of the reasons, Yoshida said this won't be happening.

Well, that's okay for now. Everyone is all PS4 crazy, right?

Not a deal breaker. By the time I can afford a 4K TV, we'll be ready for the PS5.

The way things are going, everything will streamed to your tv so no need for consoles or pc's in ten years….maybe a holodeck or matrix type device.
PS4 will be the last of the great console age!!
BBC news thought PS3 was going to the last sony console back in nov 2006,off by one console.

No, actually in 10 years time there will still be physical media.

The last 2 years has seen the rise of digital media and distribution, but until physical media costs more to produce than it makes, there will always be physical media. We are 50 years away from the worlds infrastructure being ready for 100% digital.

Best example is, Australia has started work on it's National Broadband Network, which is going to replace all the copper lines in the country with fibre optic cable, enabled us to finally get fibre optic speeds of 100mbps or more…. BUT this NBN isn't due to be finished until 2020 (ATM… but is expected to be blown out further)…. So like I said, that is nearly 10 years away. The PS5 will be announced in 2020.

At the moment Australia is one of the few "crappy internet" countries who has made a nation wide commitment to increasing it's broadband infrastructure. The rest of the crappy internet countries aren't bothering for a decade or so.

Anyone who thought the PS4 would play games at 4K/2160p is probably incapable of using a restroom without supervision.

Lol i remember a month back "PS4 will run 4K, its so much better than 1080p. It will be amazing!"

HAHAHAHA Sony needs to stop before they end up scrapping the console due to no support.

If MS said this im assuming you would be on an xbox website talking about how amazing its going to be. Brohaem let me give you some advice, go to an xbox oriented site. The good people here will only ignore you and your ridiculous remarks alright? Not fanboying, just giving some honest advice.

The problem is everyone wants it cheaper.
The PS3 was "too expensive" and "too high tech" so they're dumbing down the PS4, removing promised features so it's a cheap PS3 with extra RAM.

At this rate it seems like we can all just continue using our high end PCs to enjoy superior graphics and performance. We won't even have to update them after the PS4 comes out.

Amazing, one of the reasons I chose the PS3 was cause I wanted a good blu-ray player. Now I get me a PS4 and thus get a player for the next format.

Gotta love it.

The industri as a whole needs to start catching up to technology like video games, satalite signal providers and so on… tv's are capable of so much more nowadays.

disappointing, but not exactly surprising.
raw power required to push 4K is through the roof!
and sadly the ps4 is nothing but a playstationu, so this is hardly surprising.
guess $ony is going to need something else to help sell their 25K TV!

BTW i saw said TV at a $ony store this morning, and my god if i paid 25K for that thing id be putting myself in the noose right now!
it looks great, but to be honest you need a electron microscope to tell the difference between that and a really high end 5K 1080P plasma!
and it was running a new movie specifically designed for 4K TVs, so if anything it should be blowing people out the door!

PCs can already do 4K resolutions. PS4 is just PS3.5. Not ground breaking enough for me, I want 4k res games FFS!

I'm sure 4K TVs will drop down in price rapidly. The same way 3D TVs did.
