Sony: Not Enough PS4 Owners Have Experienced TLoU

Many gamers have asked: Do we really need The Last Of Us: Remastered ?

Sony's answer to that question is simple: Yes, because there are a lot of PlayStation 4 owners who haven't yet played Naughty Dog's masterpiece.

During a recent MCV interview with SCEE product manager Josh Walker, we learn that despite all the awards and hype, not enough people have enjoyed the game. He says that due to PlayStation Network data, they can get an idea of how many gamers have played The Last Of Us .

Said Walker:

"The Last of Us is considered one of the most significant titles of the last console generation, winning countless awards. It would be almost unfair for all our new fans to never play a game like this."

Walker said one of the reasons so many PS4 owners haven't played TLoU is because the PlayStation brand garnered a lot of new fans when the latest console arrived. We'd previously heard that only about half of current PS4 owners owned a PS3, so it makes sense to assume that many PS4 peeps missed out.

But come July 29, they can play a 1080p, 60fps version of the amazing game, complete with director and actor commentary, downloadable content, and improved shadows and lighting. It will retail for $50, and we say if you've got a PS4, it's an absolute must-own .

Lord. Now I absolutely refuse to buy it. I mean, the arrogance to act as if this remaster is a favor. Tomb Raider and GTAV are too, right? They could be nice and have included the remaster for free in the inevitable sequel ala Nintendo with Bayonetta but hey, that would be too much unlike a money grubbing, nickel and dime company. The saddest part is that the marks will parrot this line and actually praise them for it….

And Microsoft Re-re-reselling Halo 1 is also a favor. As a matter of fact, its so much of a favor that its better than the last of us. Yes, screw Sony for being proud of one of their greatest achievements. How dare they promote the highest rated game of all time? Just wow. Sony needs to die, now. Praising your game as top tier and elite? PFFFFT trash behaviour Sony. I hope Sony shats on all their kids for doing good in school too. That way its not arrogant.

I think its a great collection but MS selling Halo 1 for a THIRD time is ridiculous definitely money grubbing and nickel and dime. But so is Tomb Raider and So is GTAV. Were not talking sweet remastered games like FFX HD and The Sly Collection. And Sony can be proud of the game, the accolades ARE deserved. But Sony acting like they are doing it for the new folks when by Naughty Dogs own words they started work well before one PS4 was ever sold, well thats the part that rubs me the wrong way.

Some could argue the highest rated but it goes without saying it did win a lot of awards.

But… isn't it a favor? They spent money to remaster the visuals and bring a game to people who had no access to it before.

Yeah they are charging money but that's normal. So in an objective analysis it is a kind of favor to people who were stuck in bad console land and PC land last gen.

That sounds amazingly capitalistic. Can't that be applied to any game then, if a company puts up the dollars to create it? They are doing "favors" instead of seeing an opportunity to make a profit? I don't think that is the definition of a favor.

Well it is a consumer product, we have to evaluate these terms like favor in their natural environment.

It's a corporation. Stop treating it like anything else. This is simply nothing to be upset over. This is not arrogance – this is marketing. It's how it is.
They are building their profile in the market like any other company.

Will definitely be getting this as didn't on the PS3. Saw the PS3 one in asda for £25 yesterday and thought 'I won't get it yet… I'll wait and get it on PS4' – that is when I get round to buying a PS4!

Talked to a guy last week at a wedding who said it's the most amazing experience he's ever had with a game since 17 years ago when he played FFVII for the first time. And he's normally sceptical of anything most people like.

I haven't played TLoU and have no intention to play it on either my PS3 or PS4 (unless it becomes a PS+ game) simply because I have no interest in single player, story driven games. If I want to sit and watch what happens all the time I would not be playing a game, I would be watching a movie. IMO, Uncharted (and games like it) are just modern, less fun, versions of Dragon's Lair. Don't mean to offend anyone but if I cannot use my own intelligence and skill to beat a game then it's no challenge for me. Not to say these games are not compelling to watch but again, that's what a movie is for.

So because a game has a good story and interesting characters it's automatically like watching a movie?!? Since when are games like Uncharted or The Last of Us any less challenging or require any less skill/intelligence/whatever than any other game?? Complete BS.
