Looks like Activision is primed to make another killing but this time, a new Call of Duty may not lead the way…

According to a report from Cowen and Company analyst Doug Creutz (as cited by VentureBeat ), the hotly anticipated Destiny could sell between 10 and 15 million copies, which would generate between $600 and $900 million.

Bungie's upcoming blockbuster sits atop "Cowen's Ordometer," which estimates how many copies a game will sell based on the pre-order data from Amazon and the NPD Group's reports on physical game sales. Interestingly enough, Destiny has the highest Ordometer score in the past four years, and is actually set to outsell this year's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . In fact, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Assassin's Creed: Unity are currently projected to outstrip the latest CoD.

Wouldn't that be something? Do you know how long CoD has sat atop the annual charts?

It's going to be amazing to see a new IP get so much acceptance and love right away. People love their multiplayer.

Multiplayer is part of it, yeah of course. But I think there is another element of this game which is part of the formula for it's success.

It is the seamless integration of Multiplayer and Single player. In a way that I personally haven't seen before. (A lot of people say Borderlands 2 was the same, but I didn't play it :/ )

When I played the Alpha, I never once thought "this is an awesome Multiplayer game", and I spent most of the game roaming through Old Russia by myself. It was only in The Crucible where it truly felt like a Multiplayer experience.

Wow I had the opposite experience, Old Russia felt like it was built ground up for multiplayer to me. And there weren't any signs of the artistic or narrative flourishes that accompany a single player game, just pick a location and go shoot.

I was like Akuma, I would just go roaming around Old Russia and even strayed away from the buildings because i didn't want to do the missions over. I also loved the multiplayer as I always choose co-op over competitive, there's just more skill shown when you're a part of a team than when you're just trying to kill someone.

I am looking forward to this way more than before the Alpha. I'd be happy if Barbie outsold CoD tho.

Oh I really hope so.

Destiny is the kind of game that is amazing by itself, but the more people there are in the game at any one time, the better the experience becomes.

I felt such curiosity every single time I jumped into Old Russia free-roam and seen a name in the distance, I would almost always ride to their location just to have a dance party with them.

It is looking less and less likely that Destiny is going to be anything BUT a total success. It is rare that a game is consistently awesome leading up to launch. If THIS is the kind of quality we can expect from Bungie, then I look forward to many years of Bungie multiplatforms.

lol I loved rushing in and killing an enemy that was hurting somebody else and then doing a dance in front of them.

What do you think it will be?

Not entirely sure yet.there are a lot of contenders.ac unity there's a lot of new innovation for an assassins creed game with what has been shown. Shadow of Mordor could surprise us all, Dragon Age Inquisition leaves me with a suspicion that's there's a lot more going on than bioware leads on.I'm just the fly on the wall, silently watching…waiting.

SoM and DA:I will be great games for sure, but they won't reach those kind of sales.

Realistically, only COD and Destiny have any chance of reaching the kind of sales numbers that would brand them the biggest games of 2014.

AC:U………mayyyyybbbbbeeeeee but I doubt it, not in the face of the best COD to come along since MW or the biggest Bungie game ever made.

biggest of the year, sure.
were not getting anything but next gen remakes of last gen games, and yearly been there done that iterations so thats not saying much.
surprised its the highest preordered game of the past 4 years though, i mean more preordered than GTAV?
impressive!
imagine how well it would be selling if it actually had a dam campaign!!!!!!!!!!

Who's saying it doesn't have a campaign? This was only the alpha. they'll be showing more in the beta and even THAT won't be the final product. Hopefully, as is Bungie's M.O., it'll have a campaign that can be played multi-player.

Not sure if you haven't been paying attention, or just being stupid, but Destiny DOES have a campaign.

Bungie have repeatedly said that the campaign portion of the game can be played entirely solo, as you can in the free roam mode.

So many shooters coming out – Destiny looks the pick of the bunch – the alpha was simply fantastic.

I can't see Halo outstripping COD – maybe Xbox sales alone – but not over COD's multiple platforms.

I think BF Hardline could be the shooter to feel the squeeze the most. The beta was more of a BF4 expansion pack feel to it.

I just wish these shooters were spread out throughout the year more and not all piled into end of Q3 / Q4. It would make much more sense from a competition point of view.

The problem with multiplayer shooters is – you have to buy them at release or it will be very hard to come in later when everyone else knows the maps / has unlocked the best weapons .

I'm just glad the Order 1886 didn't try to go against Destiny / Far Cry 4 et al.

I've never actually agreed with that. I have heard a lot of people talking about how they can't get into multiplayer later in the games life because of that reason, it just doesn't make sense to me after years of playing COD and Battlefield.

I jumped into Battlefield 3 when it was free on PS+ last year, which was about 6 months before BF4 was released, so very late in BF3's life, but I didn't really feel the pain except from those crazy Coloniel 100's. But those bastards level up within the first week of playing anyway.
