“Faces Of Morpheus” Video Shows People Reacting To VR

What will your reaction be when you strap on that Star Trek-y thing for the first time?

A lot of people had fun trying out Sony's new virtual reality tech – dubbed "Project Morpheus" – at E3. And now, Sony has released a new video showing off people's reactions to the extra immersion.

Called "Faces of Morpheus," we get a peek at several experiences, and the video is broken down into Anticipation, Trepidation, Concentration, Joy, Captivation, Fascination, Wonder, and Excitement. Okay, I'm not sure I'm seeing all of those emotions but I certainly understand the point of the video. I'm also pretty sure Sony wouldn't display any negative reactions to Morpheus.

The demos on display include the space flight game Eve: Valkyrie and an interesting new adventure called The Deep (where you explore the ocean floor). It's pretty nifty.

I think it could be a lot of fun and really pull you into the game, but I'm not sure how long I could wear that thing.

From what I have read the headset is very comfortable to where. It doesn't have much weight. I think it will be fine for long game play sessions.

Wouldn't you rather get the rift for your PC gaming? Or does console VR interest you more?

I really don't know, it's an excellent question. Sony has always made proper hardware. They have an excellent track record in that respect.

But on the other hand, on the PC there's guaranteed to become a lot more other uses for the gear too.

I would assume I'll get the alternative that proves to be the best technical solution.
Or, for that matter, get them both. *sight*

Didn't Sony say that Morpheus will be compatible with PC as well? I also saw somewhere that Rift to Morpheus is only as complicated as porting from PC to PS4.

I don't see this catching on in the slightest. Nifty, but it will most certainly be rejected by the masses.

Wait 'till you try it. I was sold on the idea the moment I tried an early dev version of Oculus Rift – with all its shortcomings.

Just imagine "entering" the game with the game world being all around you. Turn your head to look behind you. Look up to see the sky… It really adds so much to immersion it's ridiculous.

Sony got a winner on its hands. This is going to be huge if priced right. I can see Elder Scrolls VI, CoDAW2 and BF5 having Morpheus compatibility. If they do it right and people are able to buy I can see it being added to older titles through a patch as well. For instance Elder Scrolls Online. Sony just needs to work on their pricing as that has been their downfall in the past. Also PSNow pricing is "Off" and needs adjusting. With that said, I am very excited for PSVR!

That and the morpheus sold for 150 or less .Maybe at 250 bundled with a triple A game for 250 might work too .

I'd love to try this. You can already imagine the possibilities for it…racing, shooting, horrors, heck even platforming could be interesting.

I wonder will they try and bring back something similar to move when this launches though.
