Ben-DutkaAfter plenty of leaks and rumors, it wasn't much of a secret.
But it's always nice to get the final confirmation: Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has announced the latest iteration in the legendary fighting franchise. It'll launch some time next year.
There's no press release just yet, but Boon simply said on Twitter that the title of the new entry is Mortal Kombat X . We also get a bone-crunching new trailer, which you can check out below. According to the YouTube description, the game will be "fueled by next-gen technology" and it'll offer an "unparalleled, cinematic presentation with dynamic gameplay." As for platforms, they're not confirmed, but we should just assume they're coming to all major consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC).

Wow, I had to mute that trailer the background score was so unfitting.
As for the game itself, fine with it. Though I am getting annoyed about hearing all these game announcements prior to e3. I really hope E3 isn't sparse on exciting announcements due to these recent reveals. I'm so so against this twitter feed generation. I want games to be revealed with extravagance and E3 prime time of the year for it. Like Halo 5, why was that title announced through a poster, why not give people something to appreciate during the E3 event. It just seems out generation doesn't respect the spectacle of e3 these days. It's all about the buzz of online feeds.

Don't worry too much there are a good deal of unannounced games that will be shown, not including the initial conferences.

Looks better than I thought. I would like to see another fight simulator by these guys. They seem locked into the profit of the Mortal Kombat title. Admittedly they did show more little creative spins in the mechanic just in this video than I expected. So we'll have to wait and see.

Not yet, you have to take into account that Netherrealm only came into existence in 2010 after a lot of corporate mishmash around the 2 creators of Mortal Kombat splitting up. It took some time for WB to pick up the rights, hire the right people for the team and build that shiny new Mortal Kombat reboot. I think their future looks bright.

Aside from the very annoying and bad rap, that trailer was awesome.
Love the new designs for the two ninjas and it looks like gameplay with a free camera. I look forward to it now more than ever. Also, of course scorpion would win, if he lost Boon would be pissed.
As a hip hop fan, I admit the score choice was not good.
With that said, the trailer looks good but it doesn't hype me up at all. It just seems to be more of the same old, same old when it comes to this series.
I loved the track.
That was awesome for me. I can't wait to play this. Day 1 purchase for sure. Love how you can use backgrounds in in the Kombat now and they brought back x ray moves and weapons. I'm excited.

Other than the terrible music it's an awesome reveal. Someone already remade the video with the original MK theme playing.

Visuals look great. The music totally doesn't fit and I hope the full game doesn't have rap as an underlying tone to the experience. That'd just suck.
Why does Scorpion always have to win? Subzero is better.always has been.anyways I stopped playing these after 9. The only way the series could have been saved was the story 9 did with time travel and ed boon shited all over it during the Sindel part and after that.that was the last straw that broke the camels back with me.god awful music choice for this trailer too.garbage…

Yayyor. But they better add something new to the fight.
Man, that trailer gave no info about the game. None. I hate trailers like that…
what's there to know? it's mortals engaged in combat. mono 'e mono. destroy the life bar. perform a fatality. move up the ladder. rinse and repeat until you fight the cheap end boss that takes 50 tries to beat.
there'll probably be like a crypt of unlockable junk and a story mode that mostly blows but is somewhat entertaining. got it?

There is a lot to know. New mechanics, specials, characters. Give me some kind of info! That CG trailer could have been just as relevant 15 years ago – minus the x-ray bones cracking.
Gotta give the audience something to look forward to checking out.

yes i too would like to know if they add any new gameplay features that affect strategy to the extent of japanese fighters
Those really aren't things you get straight from a first promo trailer. You can probably expect a new trailer to show up at E3, and if not then at EVO in july.
as the classics would say, TOASTY!!!!!!!!!

hope they bring back the konquest mode though, a story mode like that, perhaps even in the style like what shaolin monks offered, would be oh so freaking SWEET!
Not the biggest fan of Mortal Kombat, but if the actual gameplay is as fluid and dynamic as the trailer represents, I'll definitely be on board!
man that was brutal and i know a couple people who are keen i'm a bit on the fence.
