CD Projekt Red is an equal opportunity developer.

Studio co-founder Marcin Iwinski confirmed to Eurogamer that their hotly anticipated open-world RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , will not have any platform-exclusive content:

"We'll not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms, nor will we artificially delay release of the game on any of the platforms because somebody's paying us money for that. It's definitely against our values. We are not doing that."

Iwinski added that The Witcher 3 will "hopefully" show up at E3 next month, but he wants to reinforce that certain platform players won't get extra goodies. "We are treating all gamers equally," he said, and as far as their marketing intents, "you'll see that at E3." It's common for developers to produce exclusive content for various platforms but CD Projekt Red obviously isn't going that route.

What do you think? What's your take on platform-exclusive content?

Another reason why these guys are great devs. I don't think anyone really wants or likes console exclusive stuff. Its just better for everyone if everyone gets all the content right?

Somebody give these guys a prize!

I think they have a place in every gamer's heart. At least in anyone who can appreciate their efforts and ideals and play their games of course.

If they have an online store I'd get it from there just so more money goes to them instead of a retailer.

Pretty sure gog.com is owned by them. That's only useful if you have a gaming pc though.

It's better that way. Like how old are we (gamers) again? You play your game on your console and I'll play my game on mine. Easy.

We are complicated beings, but it doesn't mean that we cannot keep certain things simple.

Yes I agree as well, although I think platform specifically related exclusive content could be a tad more acceptable depending on how it's done. Preferably this content would be made available on disc from the start and especially if each console the game comes out on has an exclusive character, armor or whatever related to that franchise and it's done evenly and fairly. I think it was nice for us Sony PlayStation fans that Kratos is a playable character (PS3 only) in the latest installment of MK, but I don't think there was an additional character from a Microsoft exclusive title. I guess it depends on what it is and how it's handled and implemented.

platform exclusive content for me sucked ever since Soul Calibur 2. I wish they'd stop it, like these guys have.

Yeah, I get that point of view as well.

I was actually thinking of SC II and how Spawn wasn't a Microsoft platform exclusive character that is associated with an exclusive franchise. I was going to mention it in my original post. Yeah I felt that way about Marvel Ultimate Alliance on XBOX 360 as well, with 8 exclusive characters (not a one of them being from an XBOX/Microsoft only game, but… They were never brought to the PS either. At least Spawn and Heihachi are now available in SC II HD Online for the XBOX and PS. Link though. 🙁

I find it to be a little more understandable though when it's from a respective platform's series, however it depends on how it's done. I can see how that can be a little frustrating for some gamers as well.

Awww… But I love those weapons I use or those missions I beat in like 10 minutes. Lamesauce. More exclusive content that I don't use!

+1 to all the thoughts above – CDPR are awesome, and their "it's the game is the game is the game, and we don't go doing silly platform exclusive things" is the way it should be :). I've got no issue with whole games being platform exclusive, but if two people play the same game on different platforms, it should be by-and-large the same experience gameplay-wise, with the only differences in resolution/fps and IO.

another reason why CDPR are one of the best devs out there!
see you f*cking moron suits, THIS is how you stop people from pirating your game, and get people to buy it, by REWARDING your customers, not PUNISHING them!
