Has anyone considered this as a legitimate possibility?
The list of multiplatform games that perform better on the PlayStation 4 – as opposed to the Xbox One – continues to grow. For the life of me, I have trouble finding a multiplat that's better on Microsoft's console.
I'm aware of the standard, accepted argument: This gap will soon close and before long, the multiplats on each platform will be virtually identical, as they eventually became during the last generation. Interestingly, at the start of the previous era, most multiplats were better on the Xbox 360. As time went on and developers started using the PS3 as the lead platform for any projects, this changed. Of course, the PS3 had more capability than the 360 to begin with, so perhaps this was inevitable.
If the Xbox One doesn't have quite the capability of the PS4, though, is it really inevitable that multiplats on Xbox One will eventually perform just as well? What if it never happens? Will this have any marked impact on sales? I'm not sure it will, simply because casual gamers have no idea about the high-def/frames per second debate, and it's hard to tell the difference, anyway. At the same time, if this difference in performance persists, it will continue to be in the headlines, which will be difficult to avoid.
