Well, which is it?

We've heard various reports that the PlayStation 4 version of Watch Dogs would be the best iteration available. Other reports have been more specific, saying that the PS4 offering will run in 1080p at 60 frames per second.

In fact, a few days ago, Sony published a banner on the game's official website , specifically mentioning those 1080p/60FPS benchmarks. However, as noted by DualShockers , Sony has quietly removed the exact specs and replaced them with the simple claim that the PS4 version will have the "best graphics."

Oh, all this talk about resolution and frames per second. Let's not get too nitpicky.

This is nice and all but it seems right now PS and XO camps have nothing better to do than to freak over 1080p and 60fps etc.

It's become retarded and blown out of proportion. The significance of it all anyway.

Personally, I'd be a little concerned if Watch Dogs would be at the spec they initially claimed. To me that just says how much unused potential there was left over that could've been better put to use some place else.
The philosophy behind console programming design has usually been getting the most bang for the buck. Most open world games benefit more from things outside of 60fps and really high resolutions, so usually this processing is spent somewhere else more recognizable.

I agree with you. I never saw any headlines like these back in the Ps3/360 generation. All of a sudden, you turn on the lights, and they're EVERYWHERE. Running, hiding, flying! There's no end to them.

Maybe MS cried about this one and got Ubi to stop optimizing for PS4. Either way, this game is falling apart on the shelf with every new headline. Piss on it.

Who cares about that 1080/60 "gold standard". If a developer can reach it fine but I'm more concerned to play a really fun and great looking game, even if it's below said resolution.

Killzone SF runs at that resolution yet it left me wanting/expecting way more of it. Was a great let down.

I honestly don't see how this is an issue. If this generation of gaming is not ready to have the industry standard as 1080p, then we quite simply aren't ready for the the next generation in consoles yet. The PS3 was compatible with 1080- from the get go, but the majority of titles were 720p That is how it has been since 2006, but they still can't manage to get games to run well in 1080p… then the consoles are quite simply incompetent. We've had Blu-ray films in 1080p across the PS3 generation and now we're already getting 4k releases on Blu-ray. I simply cannot understand how this is still an issue.

christ, AGAIN!?
how many times do the developers have to say so for people to understand it?
funny how everyone latches on to rumors and "industry insiders" like their jesus, but when the actual developers come out and say it, its like ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

What insiders? What developer came out to say something?

This article is about a very quiet change on an official website.

the watch dogs devs have said countless times that the ps4 version would be 1080P 60FPS, one version still unsure as there still optimizing.

Yes, I realize that. That doesn't answer my question in regards to the apparent dip insinuated by this article about the very quiet change of that 1080p/60fps claim to apparent vagueness.

Actually…it is…http://bit.ly/1l8RMOD

German site Golem, translated on page 3, paragraphs 4 & 5 state the game runs without MSAA or TXAA and achieves 1080p/60fps with barely a dip in frame-rate.

Sony/Ubisoft removed 1080p/60fps from the advertising…not the game 😉

According to a Ubisoft blog post, PS4 version is 900p at 30fps…X1 is also 30fps at 792p.

Looks like the Golem site I visited was wrong.

Worst part isn't even the resolution, it's that the game according to the most recent trailers looks like crap, regardless of which resolution it runs on…

It is a big deal because every other game is 1080p on PS4 and that is the standard. People really need to think before they say it does not matter.

So if the game was not in HD would it also not matter? If the game was not in color would it not matter?

There is no excuse for this game to not be displaying in 1080p when last generation games like TR and TLoU are upgraded to 1080p and other open world games like Infamous are also 1080p.

As someone has stated, the game looks like crap anyway. I did not buy a 50"TV to not play my games in 1080p. Even the WiiU can run in that resolution.
