You know what the PlayStation 4 is good at?
Running games at maximum high-definition resolutions, oftentimes with corresponding high frame rates.
Planetside 2 creative director Matt Higby confirmed to IGN that the upcoming MMO shooter will run at 1080p on Sony's next-gen console, and he added that optimization for said console is ongoing.
The anticipated sequel was supposed to be ready to go on PS4 earlier this year, but that didn't happen. Therefore, getting an update like this is encouraging, because it means the developers are definitely making progress. Higby further confirmed that E3 attendees will be able to go hands-on with the game, so we're bound to see some impressions online. Now, all we need is a solidified release date…
Maybe Sony is saving Planetside 2 for a holiday release window.

I'll believe that when I see it. Waaay to many things on screen at one time for that kind of frame rate imo.
Should be fine seeing as my laptop can play it on Medium-High settings around 60FPS.
No idea what it is, I'd probably go with Destiny though if I wanted a shooting MMO.
Destiny is an MMO?
yup
PlanetSide 2 is by far the largest MMOFPS to hit consoles since, well, ever.
Assuming it's identical to the PC version, it'll have 2,000 players per continent, with three continents per server, so 6,000 players in a given server. That's beyond impressive, not only for a console, but on a technical standpoint alone.
Also, this whole debate regarding Destiny being an MMO? It isn't truly an MMO, but it does have MMO elements. Honestly, I have no idea what this game should be classified as, and apparently, neither does Bungie. Some call it a first person shooter, others a shared world shooter, and action role playing game, mythic sci-fi open world game, as well as an MMO.
I don't think anyone really knows what Destiny truly is. Possibly a hybrid between everything? Like, not a straight-up MMO, but a hybrid with MMO elements?

I call Destiny a quasi-MMOFPS.
you would hope so!
if a "next generation" machine cant run a game like planetside 2, hardly a amazing graphical powerhouse, at 1080P, than theres some SERIOUS problems!
well atleat this is good news for a change aye we needed something positive at the start of the week and here you go
happy gaming =)
