For JRPG fanatics, here's the first good reason to own the PlayStation 4.
The latest Famitsu issue has lifted the lid on the first JRPG that will be exclusive to Sony's new machine. As revealed by DualShockers , it's called Omega Quintet and it'll release in Japan on September 18.
Compile Heart will handle the release, although we're not sure if they'll bring it to other regions. This game is dubbed a fantasy "Idol RPG" and strangely, the story is about idols that can counter a mysterious and damaging power called the "beep." I get the feeling something is lost in translation there, but you never know…such games are often quite loopy. Fukahire will produce the character designs for the game.
The picture looks like your quintessential JRPG, and we can't be sure how well it will perform outside of Japan.

Fairy fencer f for the ps3 and now this for the ps4. JRPG goodness to look forward to.
But first, I still need to finish their other game which is Record Of Agarest War 2.
Ugh generic anime overload, couldn't we have started with something worthwhile like a port of Persona 5? I don't want the JRPG name to be bombarded with rubbish titles like this – Better yet why not grab Xenoblade 2 instead that way I can sell off my Wii-U
vivi_gamer,
you do know that this is part of the galapagos rpg series by compile hearts?
I just looked through Compile Hearts backlog of games… they're the responsible for most of the JRPG's which gave the genre a bad image this gen… I'm surprised they weren't involved with Time & Eternity aswell.
These are niche of the niche games, they aren't there to carry the torch of all JRPGs and they have their dedicated cult fan base. It isn't these folks fault that everyone stopped making the more mainstream JRPGs.
Nothing against the fans of this genre, but I seriously doubt this game will sell that many copies.
That's why they are cool, they cater only to their fans.
Awesome news, I'll be looking for it in the US. I'm hoping with the easy PS4 dev process there will be JRPGs earlier than usual in the console generation. (We are only now getting the wave of them on PS3)
My First JRPG will be Deep Down and then Final Fantasy XV
Lame, don't care for it.
I should've expected this after reading the name "Quintet" in the header 😀
Nice World.
