Normally, I'd just update the previous story with the new trailer.
But this is Call of Duty . So I apologize but it's necessary to throw up another headline because as usual, the gaming world has gone bonkers for another CoD installment.
Anyway, Activision has given us the first official trailer for this year's effort from Sledgehammer Games. It's called Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and award-winning actor Kevin Spacey will play a significant role in the narrative. The game will arrive on November 4 and the trailer was captured on the Xbox One…if you have to ask why, you're obviously not familiar with the Activision/Microsoft partnership concerning this franchise.
It's encouraging to see Spacey; he's great in everything he does. Anybody see "House of Cards?" Good show.
Related Game(s): Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
These games have gone too futuristic for me and Ghosts felt more like a map pack than a new game, but I'll give sledgehammer a chance on their first try at CoD and reserve judgement until I read some reviews and perhaps try the game.
And Ben, at least you're honest about it aha.

Bullshit continues
Looks dope but I don't expect it to wow me.
I think this is the worst acting performed by K.Spacey and this is thanks to developers who do not know tha humanbeings must blink their eyes (and eyes do not look very realistic), if you character don´t blink then he looks so dull and unbelievable. Right now this is meh..

Nope, worst acting performed by an NPC. A voice performer can only do so much with pictures in front of them to give them an idea of what is going on.
Not gonna lie, after having totally skipped on Ghosts this new installment does intrigue me. I would need to see more.
Not gonna lie, I much prefer futuristic sci fi-style shooters to modern day war simulators. The latter tend to make me deeply uncomfortable, actually (no judgment on those who enjoy them, I just don't enjoy being reminded of how terrifying and violent the world we live in is when I'm trying to relax with a video game.) So this is actually a nice development for the series, as far as I'm concerned.
I hate him.
How…how could you hate Frank Underwood?
Who is Frank Underwood?
Gasp! World, you didn't!
Have you no shame? D:
Its the name of the character he plays in the highly praised House Of Cards, which seems to be the same character portrayed on the trailer.
I figured, but that's a standard insult 🙂
What are the odds you can pilot giant robots? 😉
Graphics still look like pretty bad. I guess this was in the works before the next gen consoles were around? Maybe next year CoD will look like a next gen game 😛
That aside it does have some interesting looking gadgets in it. But still I'm tired of the micheal bay type action. Wolfenstein actually looks much more fun and refreshing than this game so far at least.
Lets hope for dedicated servers 😛
"Maybe next year?"
I've been saying that since 2009… Still actively hoping.
please let it be fast paced run and gun MP maps again. Please let it be fast paced run and gun MP maps again. Lets put the boring abomination that is Ghosts to rest.
Sorry – COD has a campaign? Ill have to look into that
A little bit insulting innit? that there is an Xbox trailer on a Playstation site.
Looks pretty good. Like every year, I'm on board. Ghosts was a tad disappointing but I hope this makes up for it.
it may be an XO trailer but we all know it'll at least look better on PS4 by virtue of greater GPU muscle.
It's just fact that the PS4 will be better.
It goes: The PS4 version will look better*
*provided they actually make the effort to optimize the game for said platform.
I mean have you ever seen a videogame trailer where it says "Recorded straight from (insert platform of choice here)" and actually see the other platforms look better?
Temjin,
The muscle is the same, the difference is the speed it receives the data.

No the GPU muscle is not the same. The PS4's IS more powerful, memory or not. That's just a fact. This is something backed up by devs who are qualified to know.
Hi, Dev qualified to know here.
The PS4 is indeed more powerful, though not to a significant degree. You'll likely find better shadowing and higher average fps rates on the PS4.
So, while the PS4 may contain slightly more detail, and run at a slightly higher resolution, you really won't notice much of a difference between the two builds. The extra power isn't significant enough to make a real difference.
what has happened to people over the last few months? how have so many forgotten the plain and simple facts or now treat them as details to be glossed over?
So never mind devs who have already stated it's pretty much "impossible" for the XO to match the PS4. Never mind these stats below.
GPU cores
PS4: 1152
XO: 768
That is 33% more PS4 GPU 'muscle' literally, than the XO. A greater difference than the 360's GPU ever had over the PS3's.
Popular shooters like BF4 run at 720p on XO, yet 900p on PS4. That's 921,600 pixels versus 1,440,000.
Of course this is usually the case in multplatform environments where the higher powered system, due to tangible resources, will just have higher res and smoother frame rates. Such is the way of cross platform development.
(note to self: remember not to talk tech facts with random net posts who clearly demonstrate a lack of knowledge or look for reasons to be offended by footage that is noted to be taken from an XO, yet will virtually appear the same to us anyway on PS4 from a video feed)
wiiplay. Don't call me a dev because I never stated that. Please read again.
Temjin001, I wasn't calling you a dev, but rather, stating that I am a developer.
While the PS4 is certainly more powerful on a technical standpoint, I seriously doubt third parties will take advantage of this extra power, as it just isn't significant enough to make any kind of real graphical difference.
Yes, you'll get a more stable game at a slightly higher resolution, but graphically, you'll just get slight enhancements here and there.
First party games with closer access to the PS4's architecture could optimize for better visuals and performance. However, there will never be a massive graphical difference between the two systems.
Will Xbox One exclusives look better than PS4 exclusives? No, not possible on a hardware standpoint. PS4 will always have the hardware edge.
Still, you shouldn't assume that the PS4 will somehow look 33% better simply because it has more power. Most of that extra power is going towards resolution output.. At least, right now it is.
I am actually impressed, looks like a TON of fun! I skipped Ghosts so I am capable of side stepping the hype. However, this Advanced Warfare has be all hyped up and excited. Going to try Ghosts this weekend on the PS4 for free. I wish they would do these free MP weekends when the game is released.
Wait, so you mean to tell me that Titanfall fell in love with Halo, and respawned (pun intended) as Advanced Warfare?
I'm not complaining… Just confused by how much of a hybrid of everything this appears to be.

looks mildy more interesting than ghosts, maybe enough to warrant a purchase.
Call of Duty: Crysis Titanfall 🙂
Yeah, but is that really such a bad thing?
Crysis (original) was pretty awesome, and Titanfall…. Let's you jump high.
Honestly, it seems a bit like Activision wanted to purposely capitalize on the success of Titanfall by releasing their own game that plays / feels similar. It would pretty much make Titanfall obsolete.

I imagine we just saw 90% of the SP campaign.
Give me a lengthy compelling SP experience and I'll consider it.
