The "seamless experience" description makes it sound like Dark Souls or something, doesn't it?

Last week, Ubisoft Montreal released a full 9-minute trailer outlining the multiplayer mode(s) in the hotly anticipated Watch Dogs . Now, to elaborate on those details, lead gameplay designer Danny Belanger has clarified the multiplayer :

"We don’t talk about it in terms of single-player and multiplayer. It’s all online. It’s seamless. You continue your game. That aspect, for me, is crucial because otherwise it’s a break in the experience."

It's not about merely choosing from a menu, picking a certain mode, and throwing down on a certain map. Other players can invade your game at any time, provided you're not in the midst of a story mission. The interesting part is that the game – true to its futuristic concept – will actually learn your multiplayer tendencies and adapt accordingly:

"We have a shield. So if someone comes into your game and hacks you, you’re protected. It can’t happen. The less you partake in the multiplayer, the longer the shield. If you’re not hacking people and you’re not into that gameplay, the game will recognize and acknowledge that you’re not into that. That’s fine."

When engaging in online multiplayer activities, you will always see yourself as protagonist Aiden Pearce, while others will see you as a "fixer," whose appearance is random. We're definitely reaching a point in this industry where the lines between single-player and multiplayer are increasingly blurred…

I was hoping that there was an option to turn it off. I wanted a clean first play-through.

Just dont connect to the internet theres your clean playthrough unless you have to be connected online to play single player. I dont always have my ethernet cable plugged in so am not always online on my PS4.

I am certain it will be possible to play it without risking to have other gamers intruding your game. That's just something I can put money on here and now without having an official confirmation.

There pretty much is an option. Watched a dev talk about it on a PS Access video

I hate when that's the case like with Resident Evil 6. People don't want that. Multiplayer should be "separate".

Don't think I'll have to worry too much. By the time I get to Watch Dogs, I doubt anyone'll be playing it.

I don't know Lawless, as slow as I am at gaming you would still probably find me wandering around, scratching my head trying to figure out what to do! lol

please dont tell me this is going to be like NFS rivals, constantly having little twats being d*cks constantly trying to piss you off.
i swear to god every time i hear a developer say we dont think of them as SP and MP i want to grab my laptop and smash it over their heads!
1 you have problems like above spoiling the experience.
and 2 there seperate for a reason, they involve different things, they have different styles, SO STOP TRYING TO SMASH THEM TOGETHER IT JUST DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
