If you're going to generate a lot of your own hype, you had best deliver the goods.
And Bungie knows it.
During the developer's latest Weekly Update , they said their innovative shared-world shooter needs to meet – and perhaps even exceed – the consumer's lofty expectations.
" We talked a big game last year. We were so excited to talk about our future. Now, it's time to deliver. It's time to close this out in a way that we will all be proud of. We owe that to ourselves, and to our legacy. But most of all, we owe it to you. "
After Bungie invited several dozen journalists to their offices last week to show off a pre-alpha version of the game, we can expect plenty of feedback to hit the Internet soon. "The floodgates are about to burst wide open," said the developer. Along with that feedback should come plenty of new media and Bungie finishes by saying:
"We hope, more than anything, that you love what you see."
Destiny is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 9. The beta will kick off early this summer on the PS3 and PS4.

Sooooo it's gonna have to do more than be a shooter? But can it fight Titanfail?
Well, I don't think Titanfall is as big as people expected it to be. The hype has died down completely now that the game is released.
Destiny has a much bigger chance at beating Titanfall with it being multiplatform.
I need to see more of this game, hope it'll be awesome and deliver on all the hype.
We ALL need to see more of this game.
Seriously they announced it 1 1/2 years before it's release date, showed a bunch of gameplay from one Raid, then just showed different videos from the same Raid.
We have had ZERO new footage or even new gameplay details in SO long.
I think they should have waited to announce it this year.
Anxiously awaiting this one. The concepts they're pitching sound awesome!
fingers crossed they deliver. They have a chance to do something special, the early glimpses of the game universe and gameplay are intriguing, to put it lightly. Not forcing a subscription is a huge plus for me, too.
can't wait for this game.
Off topic, but related to Bungie, How Many of you have played Oni? It is one of my most beloved games. I think we've had enough shooters already. I wish that Bungie brings back the gaming genre of Oni, make a spiritual successor to it, hell maybe even a direct sequel.
That's when Bungie was doing for Rockstar.
I vaguely remember just playing a sample portion when I first got it, but I've never played it all the way through for some reason or another.
It still sits there in my PS2 backlog, awaiting me……
well i'm still interested to see what they will deliver to us.
happy gaming =)
of course you do, all devs do!
but thats the problem with this industry, everythings hyped up as the second coming.
then companies b*tch and whine when people are disappointed, when they finally get their hands on it and find out its not all it was said to be.
kinda hard not to be disappointed when your told your getting a new ferrari next week, than next week comes and you get said ferrari, but its actually a lego model.
