We know it's coming this summer but we don't have an official date.

However, if you choose to believe some retailer listings, it's not far off. According to a GameSpot report , Target, GameFly and Best Buy have all listed The Last Of Us: Remastered with a June 20, 2014 release date.

Amazon still has the December 31, 2014 placeholder date, but it's certainly telling that three major retailers have the same date, and it's plausible. Sony still hasn't confirmed anything but we wouldn't be surprised to learn that this date is real. The Last Of Us on PS4 will feature tweaked visuals, commentary from the game's director and actors, previously released DLC, and others bonuses, and it'll retail for $60.

That price tag has met with plenty of resistance, as many think a re-release of a year-old game should be cheaper, especially for those who already bought it in 2013. However, there's a chance that Sony might offer a deal to those who purchased TLoU for the PS3 last year.

I would be thrilled to have it as early as June 20th. Summer doesn't technically begin until June 21st so it makes me wonder if these stores just sorta picked the ~start of summer as a placeholder date.

EDIT: June 20th is a Friday this year btw. Seems like a strange day, but I dunno anymore.

In the UK, which is where these retailers are located, games are launched on a Friday.

I saw a guy at the gym yesterday that looked like a Joel imitator. Other days I've seen a new DMC Dante guy there as well.

At first I was against new remastered versions of games, well, specifically from PS3 to PS4. But I realized that was hypocritical of me since I purchased HD version of Ratchet and Clank series, Killzone, Sly Cooper, Prince of Persia (still not sure why I did on that one), etc.

I think with backward compatibility no longer in the scheme of things, AND it is a new generation of console that is more powerful and capable… I would say why not take the best of the games of the PS3 and bring them over AS LONG as an effort is made to make them a lot better visual, etc for the current gen. Last of Us is a good example. Not sure the Uncharted series would be worth the effort, but you know… I might if ND did it.

When and if I do get a PS4, this new remastered version will be on the list.

Keep playing!
