If Hideo Kojima really said this, Tom Clancy's The Division just became one of our most anticipated next-gen games.
In development at Massive Entertainment and set to be produced by Ubisoft, The Division is getting a lot of attention among industry insiders. This includes Metal Gear Solid guru Kojima.
According to The Examiner , Massive Entertainment Managing Director David Polfeldt talked about people's reactions to his team's game at E3 this year. Among those who were impressed were Kojima, DICE, and the Destiny developers (Bungie). Polfeldt describes Kojima's reaction:
"What meant more to us than maybe anything else, is that we had every single competing developer come over to our booth and asking for a show. Two minutes after E3 opened, we had Hideo Kojima come over to the Ubisoft booth and he said I want to see The Division. Then the press guy said politely, ‘okay so do you want to see the other Ubisoft games?’ [Kojima replied] ‘nope I just want to see The Division.’ The very first presentation we did at E3 was made for Hideo Kojima and his interpreter. Then he leans forward to his interpreter and he says ‘you guys are so good, it makes me want to quit my job.’"
That's a pretty hefty statement, wouldn't you say? However, we have heard Kojima heap high praise on Western developers before, and he has admitted that Japanese game makers are indeed lagging behind their Western counterparts. Still, Kojima knows what he's looking at and if he said that…we wanna see more of The Division ASAP.
