It's likely that Titanfall helped Xbox One sales, even though it's also available on the Xbox 360 and PC.
But what about inFamous: Second Son ? Remember, it's only launching for the PlayStation 4, so you absolutely need that platform in order to play it. The question is, will this week's release have a significant impact on sales of Sony's next-gen console?
It's hard to say. The game was one of the very first that was unveiled for the PS4 early last year. This means it was probably high atop most priority lists heading into the PS4 launch in the fall; hence, it can be argued that most people who want inFamous already have the system. Then again, with the relatively lackluster launch lineup, maybe a lot of gamers decided to hold off. After all, if they don't feel they need the PS4 for anything until Second Son , why drop the cash in November? Especially when it's the holiday season and that money could be better used elsewhere?
I suppose review scores will play a large role as well. Don't forget that while the first two inFamous games received good scores, neither exactly scored off the charts. For instance, inFamous 2 only holds an average Metascore of 83. That's not bad but it's hardly elite. This isn't like Uncharted or God of War , you know; inFamous has never really been a critic's darling. Second Son might be, though…
