Every project goes through a lengthy brainstorming and creative process before the game is actually made.
A lot of changes can and are made during these periods, but did you know just how drastic those changes can be?
Well, for example: Sucker Punch co-founder Chris Zimmerman told GameSpot that inFamous didn't begin its life as the games you know and love today.
In fact, the original concept was closer to Nintendo's Animal Crossing . Yeah, that's right. Said Zimmerman:
"The original idea for Infamous, believe it or not, was that it was kind of Animal Crossing, but you were a super hero. All kinds of crazy stuff like that. We worked on that for about a year in that direction. So much more stylized, much more cartoony than what you end up seeing. We worked hard to see if we could make that work."
It seems the team did a ton of experimentation with this idea, but it just "wasn't coming together." Still, it's hilarious to think that one of the first concepts had players "fighting a gang of purple gorillas who were stealing balloons." That's not what we see today in the acclaimed series and you know, I'm just fine with that.
Lest we forget, inFamous: Second Son will launch exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in North America on March 21. …sans purple gorillas.
This entire article made me feel high. And that's a good thing.
u sure it was the article?
I bet if you looked hard enough you could find purple gorillas in one of the inFamous games.
Funny it can go from a animal crossing type deal to what is now. I'm ready to play second son though.
its certainly an interesting idea to think about that an awsome looking action/adventure game was gunna be like that to start with.
happy gaming =)
Oh man, what a lame idea.
