At this point, nobody would be surprised if the next MGS title was available for at least one next-generation console.

And even though franchise guru Hideo Kojima wouldn't confirm the idea during a recent interview , it certainly seems possible that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will hit the PS4/Xbox 720.

When asked if the game would be released for next-gen machines, Kojima's cryptic reply was that it's a "secret" he couldn't really talk about, but the answer might come "sooner than you think." This could be due to the fact that Sony and Microsoft will likely unveil their new systems at E3 or before (provided recent reports are accurate). Obviously, such a giant title probably wouldn't launch exclusively for next-gen consoles, but it could very well be one of those "generation straddling" games, where it's released for both current- and next-gen machines. There's a definite chance of that.

I don't know about you, but I think Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes would be one hell of a launch title for any new console…

I could see it going either way. It could just be he can't announce it until the consoles have been officially revealed, or it could be he wants to keep hype up, and will be revealing a release date for it soon ("sooner than you think" could mean either.) Either way, I'm sure it will be great.

Depends on how far along in development it is. I'm expecting a straddler since the FOX engine can do just that but Koji does love his new tech.

Kojima sure loves to tease his fans. Its fine tho cuz I kinda think were all suckers for his cryptic style.

I played through MGS 1-4 last year and I'm totally sold on all future games. IMO they kept getting better with 3 and 4 being my favorites, so hopefully GZ is a new series high!

I thought journalists would have learned by now that you don't just interview Kojima, he never answers.
He told us nothing of Ground Zeroes yet suddenly it appear and it's not Project Ogre.

But still, such a tease he is.

In my opinion there's no better franchise than MGS and to reveal such a secret so early would be a mistake on his part. As Ben said it would be a hell of a launch title but I wouldn't not want MGS as a lauch title because I want the title to look the very best and it takes quite some time for developers to get to know how the hardware works.

Kojima doesn't really need to tease to keep hype going. His games build hype on their own. He could give everyone every little detail and people would still be super pumped for his games. Can't wait!!!

not exactly surprising.
not sure if this is such a good idea though.
next gen systems always struggle to sell because of high prices and few games.
the expense of creating a game for next gen systems is going to be far greater than current, so is this really wise?
there going to go spending a arm and a leg on a game, that will sell very few units.
why not just keep it current exclusive, than create a new game as a next exclusive?
save next gen consoles for the TRUE MGS5!
