Unfortunately, the rumors were too good to be true.

These rumors began with a European release calendar for Square Enix's upcoming products, and both Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV have an estimated 2014 date. But now, the publisher is saying that really isn't true.

In a message given to GameSpot , we find out that such dates were merely placeholders:

"We're aware an internal document has been in circulation listing release dates for select Square Enix titles. This information contained in this document is inaccurate and features placeholder timing. Specifically, no announcement has been made to date for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV–their projected release window remains to be advised."

Chances are, you won't have any information concerning the launch date for either title until E3. And even then, there's no guarantee. FFXV has the best chance of dropping this year, but it's improbable that KHIII will be ready to go in 2014.

Because 8 years isn't long enough and they will need to get the stink of Lightning Returns off themselves I doubt FFXV makes it this year.

Kingdom Hearts III is from the same team so probably not till 2017 on that.

It's getting ridiculous how poorly SE is being managed. We're going on close to a decade since they released a single player FF game I've truly enjoyed.

I never thought I'd look to portable gaming and pc emulation to satisfy my RPG needs. February 7th can't come fast enough.

Agreed LV, I've actually got my nose in a Vita now and looking at upcoming JRPGs and I'm no portable gaming fan.

FF15 better be this year. Its been in the oven for what 8 years?

KH3 I want them to take their time with it. Don't want it getting rushed out the door.

Well it's possible both might come out in the same year.
Look at FFXII and KHII.

How about 2016?

FFXV is holiday 2014 at best but I wouldn't be surprised if it's as late as Sept. 2015. KHIII is years away yet.

Did anyone actually believe either would release this year?

Exactly, there is no chance of a either game being released, we're already getting LR and FFX/X-2 HD this year, I just cannot see them dropping the bombshell of Final Fantasy XV with it.2015 is very possible though, I don't think we'll be waiting all this gen for it.

anyone with half a brain will tell you neither will be releasing this year!
especially considering both were just announced at E3, and $E, well, they like to take their f*cking sweet time with these things!
plus, dident the game producer for KH3 say in his first interview the game wouldent be ready till at least 2015 anyway?

Do we really want to listen to people who have half a brain, anyways?

But chances are, the full brained folks agree. So you get a freebie.

Please don't buy a PS4 until those games release. I bought a PS3 waiting for them and nothing, I won't make the same mistake again!

Remember when Squaresoft made Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and it bombed, bankrupting them? It was only the sales of FFX and KH1 that saved them. Then Squaresoft merged with Enix and it became the beginning of the end. This will be the final nails in the coffin for Square-Enix. There day of judgement is close at hand. That is if LRFFXIII doesn't do it first.
